1. genealogy.com adding features when they can't maintain the site already [1]
Why does genealogy.com insist on adding more features and products when the ones they already have lack instructions, are broken or are ignored by their own staff? 4. Genealogy Software [1]
I was wondering if someone could recommend software for creating and keeping track of ones genealogy. It is not for me personally, but for my father. I don't know much about the 'science' of Genealogy, so forgive my ignorance. What he needs is something that will allow him to handle those 'non conventional' branches. i.e. Divorces, Remarriage, Kids from different Fathers, etc... You know, stuff you would see on Jerry Springer. :) Any information would be appreciated.
5. Re: Virus from official source ?? [1]
Dear Cheryl l>SHORT VERSION: Someone subscribed to the list has the virus on >their personal, home or office or library, computer. For this reason I suggested that everyone on the Glamorgan list checked for the virus on their comnputers. I cannot believe that people will still open these attachments when there has been so much about them on the internet. I have been very careful about operning anything and my Norton checks everything. I just didn't see how it could come with the Digest from the Genb

8. Re: LDS FHCs and Internet access, getting your website ready for those [1]
Amber, I'm a little confused as to how a person can have access to the Internet and not have e-mail. But, I'm often confused because of lack of knowledge. :-) I have a genealogy personal Web Site (not sight!); "personal" in that I'm sole editor, typist, organizer, instigator, promulgator AND sponsor. On my Web Page I have my home address in a couple of places on the Index.htm page, at the top and at the bottom. And if that doesn't do it they can always leave a message in the Guestbook with address and I'l

Dear Liz Don't start another thread for God's sake. All I was asking was if anyone could deal with the problem. If you read this newsgroup then you will have seen what I am referring to and please just try to stop getting at me. I wrote a perfectly reasonable letter which you just pulled to pieces. If you don't like what I write why not just say nothing. There was no false in formation neither did I try to be anything other than I am - an interested reader who would like to see this sort of thing cl

13. Importing to Microsoft Works [1]
I have a database in Microsoft Access which I want to send to a friend who uses Microoft Works. Access does not export in Works format but I'm sure thre is an intermediate format that is common to both programs. I do not have Works and my firend is not computer litereate and unable to help. Could someone with Works be so kind as to tell me which file formats can be imported into the spreadsheet or database parts of Works Many thanks, Barney _______________________________________________________________

Doug, one thing I've found about "buggy" software is that if I prepare my HD first before loading it things work much better. I do the usual routine: Scandisk/Defrag then load the program. I've used Legacy a bit, and not had any troubles with bugs. Can you give some examples? We have some people here that are very familiar with it. My old nemisis, Dick Lilenthal, from the Space Race days in southern California, is one that I know very well. But Dick may be asleep under a palm tree in Denver and not see th

Hi, Ron, I don't regularly use OE, but just wondering about this feature that you mention. I brought OE up and couldn't find *Message, Create Rule* anywhere. Not on the main OE screen's Message pull down nor on the Message screen's Message pulldown. Can you please lead me by the hand? I didn't know it was possible to delete a NG message on the Internet. I thougth, actually have been told by SuperTechs at my ISP that it's out there in Servers forever until it gets flushed from the server's memory. ???? Don

It is my understanding that last evening when the hackers returned to the chat room the word filter didn't pose a problem to them, they could say "doCUMent" and "pASSage" plus other unpleasant phrases. Once again they took over users names and were posting nasty things for them.
