3. Should I keep UFT? [1]
Hi, again - I'm still searching for the right software program... Well, I purchased a copy of Ultimate Family Tree - Platinum, for $8.74, thru eBay (unopened box). I understand that UFT is no longer being supported, and that there is a discount to upgrade to TMG, if you have UFT. I also just found out that this may be an older version of UFT (2.8? - maybe earlier? I can't tell, because the box hasn't been opened, yet). So, the question is: What do I do with this software? Do I open the box, and

Personal attacks aside, even if they are warranted. FTM is still a crappy product. If Paul can't handle it, then he needs to leave. Paul single-handly made this newsgroup an unfriendly place. If he were to leave, the group will quiet down. He can even lie and tell us all that he is going onto other functions in life, none of which pertain to the crappy product he is selling here. Anyone that thinks Paul adds no value should be thanked for having the fortitude to say as much. "Derek Salt"

Hi, I've just rebuilt my tower, problems. Floppy works, CD works, Drives are reconised. I insert startup disk, it proceeds okay to the end but no prompt. The message I get is "Insert disk with batch file press any key to continue". What do I do now. Help please. Thanks Hal Watkinson [Kent].

9. Legacy3 vs TMG [1]
Ok, I've gotten my list from a bunch of you, and have tried out a bunch of genealogy software programs (GenoPro, PAF 5, FTM, Kindred Konnections, Brothers Keeper, Legacy 3, and UFT). I still have a copy of Generations Family Tree (the 21CD Millennium Edition) that I have to try, but I doubt it will be better (for me) than what I've already found out. Gotta keep an open mind, though! So, out of everything I've tried, I like Legacy 3 the best (well, I like UFT also, but don't want to invest my time i

13. Printing problems PAF 5 [1]
Some friends and I have recently downloaded the new version of PAF, 5. Mine prints fine. When they try to print they get an error about their page settings being not wide enough and incorrect. They have to go into the Page settings and fiddle with the margins etc., and yet they still can't print properly. I've printed using W98 and W2K Pro, they use W98. I've printed to HP Deskjet 990Cse and HP 4 and HP4L. They have tried with the HP4, to no avail. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks, Denise ----- Po

21. Re: Should I keep UFT? [1]
Thanks for the advice. The reason I was aprehensive about keeping UFT, is that there is no support for it, anymore, and there will be no more upgrades. So, the questions are: Should I upgrade now, while I still get a 20% discount on TMG? Or, are Legacy or PAF good enough for now? Or, will the UFT I have be good enough for a couple years? "Edward A. Next, place one paper in each of the 6 envelopes and seal them. You should now have 6 sealed envelopes, each with a piece of paper stating the above phrase, your name and address, and a $1.00 bill.
