2. Re: McDaniel Lineage (MacDONNELL'S HAMBURGERS???) [1]
My grandfather, John MacDonnell, was born in Seymourstown, County Meath. When I wrote the County Meath Heritage Center, I was told that my ggrandfather's name was Mathew McDaniel or McDonnell. I have been corresponding with third cousins in County Meath and they are all McDonnell's. Where my grandfather got MacDonnell is a mystery though he claimed he went to medical school in Scotland. I thought that guy who made hamburgers was a MacDonald? Sure fooled me. Nancy

6. Irish HITCHCOCK messages. Where'd they go?! [1]
Dear Webmaster: I posted 3 messages in the past week requesting info on my family's Irish HITCHCOCK ancestors. I received 2 helpful responses from the 1st message: 1 on the Board and the other via e-mail. When I revisited the Board to see if anyone else had posted a response, I couldn't find my message even though I've selected a 30-day window. So I submitted revised messages on Sat & Sun, but each disappeared soon after it was posted. What gives? Am I submitting my messages incorrectly? Or perhaps my me

Daniel died in the Boer War. Thanks for any help. Mary Ann

11. Copithorne [1]
I am just starting to research my father's family from Cork, Ireland. My grandfather, James Copithorne was born 22 June 1890 in Kelcoe, County Cork, Ireland. His parents were James Copithorne and Martha Roycroft. Would be interested in hearing from anyone who has come across this surname. My grandfather was one of a very large family but kept no contact after arriving in Boston in 1911 as far as I know. Thanks Nancy LaRue

14. messages with no text [1]
A while back a lister posted that messages were being received with no text. I have been receiving a fair number of them from this site. Is this problem also noted by other listers, even if sporadic? I have been banging on my server company4s door for over a month, trying to get some technical check done by them, but they seem to be asleep at the wheel. So I have no way of knowing if this is a source or receiving end problem. It4s no big deal, but it is only over the past month or so that this started happ
15. Re: Re: Fwd: excessive charges [1]
Yes! One should send a donation. At least something that would cover postage and photocopying. Churches are non-profit, they have budgets . . . so it would be nice to send something. That's what I do. Debbie > I have had just the opposite situation, I have received numerous >>baptismal and birth certificates from the church in Nashua NH, Waseca, and >>Mpls. Minn. 20. Re: Gathering records [1]
Ok, I just caught this thread. What some are saying is that if we contribute names and dates we are finding in the parish records on our family and submitting this information to someone with a website, who is willing to create a database or whatever, then this will help those who are trying to find their families? I have been reading 2 parishes and boy is it hard! I have gone back and read and re-read and read some more and I'm still not done! The FHC is out of town for me, which doesn't make it any easi

23. Getting Naturalization Records???? [1]
I had the info and lost it. Can't seem to find on web today. I am after gr grandparents who may have been naturalized in Chi 1870s-1900. But I am also wanting to do it for the entire clan for my web page. I've found maybe 50 people in census records from Ireland with our name. I have a copy of what one of the clan got done for him in 1974. He had paid someone who went to National Archives in Was and found 3 with the right name in Mass. Could I do this and get everyone with our name? Thanks Ken
