I have the following DONALDSON surnames, address Omagh, leaving derry and arriving Philadelphia , USA, in 1847: Mathew, Sarah age 3, Margaret age 6, John age 6, Ellen age 9 mos. Dear Mary, I know Griffin is a very common name in Ireland, but wanted to give a try... My Great uncle's name was Patrick Griffin, but as far as I know, his family was from Co. Tipperary. Of course, that is next door to Co. Limerick, so there just might be a connection. In my Griffin line there are McCormick (or McCormack, Cormack), Grady (O'Grady) Irving, Donlan, Hanlan,Rochford.
