2. [GENOWAY] [Fwd: [OHCLER] Checking Property Records] [1]
This came in on the Clermont County,Ohio list. Since Perry Township was part of Clermont County before Brown County was formed, has anyone looked at these books to see if Elizabeth is listed(since she owned the land)? I'm also thinking that Joseph B. and/or others may be listed there since Joseph B. was old enough to vote to make Brown a county. The link in the text below shows a sample of the records that this person found. Charlie -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [OHCLER] Checking
3. [GENOWAY] [Fwd: [OHCLER] Checking Property Records] followup [1]
oddly enough - a completely different response to the same question about Clermont County property records. I'm not sure which is correct or if they just moved the records from one place to the other. 4. [GENOWAY] Joseph Genoways [1]
In reviewing the history of Brown county text, it got me to think when would Joseph have been 18 and could the part about the church and the military be true? I went back through the census records again and found Joseph with his age: 1800 : 26-45 1810 : over 45 1820 : 26-45 ( probably wrong as he was listed as surname of James) 1830 : 60-70 per the 1800 and 1810 census, he was born between 1855 and 1865. per the 1830 census, he was born between 1860 and 1870 combined, that puts his birth around 1860-1

10. One of your long, lost relatives [1]
Dear Genoway family, I apologize for not "signing in" sooner; however, I have had some computer problems that have made it impossible for me to communicate some of the time. (Hey; you Nebraska Genoways - are you still there? Or, have to all blown away? Hang on! I am sure you never quite get used to this, though, do you. I grew up in the desert of WA State, and we had winds up to 70+; not fun. It was especially difficult for me to walk to school in the winds when they were high. And, the dust wa

13. Florence Genoway - no "s" Sorry Charlie! [1]
Well, I would not want you folks to go on MY hiatus without a little question to ponder: 1910 Federal Census for (looks like) Everett City Snohomish County Washington (page 12 of the listing if you are on Ancestry.com) there is young 24-year old Florence Genoway-who was -- like both her mother and her father - born in Missouri. That puts her birth date at about 1886 or so.
14. Google Books - Genoway/Bishop [1]
I found that "Google Books" has imaged and indexed many books. Those that are public domain are available for reading, those that are copyrighted only show a snippet of the page. I think the copyright pages require you to login to Google - free login - you can use your gmail(Google Mail) account if you have one. I found a public-domain book named: Biographical History of Tippecanoe, White, Jasper, Newton, Benton, Warren and Pulaski Counties, Indiana This book contains information on the Edgar C. Bish

16. Charlie Vanlandingham's 'letter" [1]
Dear family- I have been thinking about what Sandra had to say about what she knew about ole Doc Genoway (Charlie V)----------- and in my memory there is a short letter from Charlie to...............................someone...................somehow I think it is Galen........that is---while certainly NOT an attempt at reconciliation -- is a congratulatory note (you graduated from high school!!) and an attempt to impart a word of wisdom???????? Am I making that up? Did that come from Michelle Learned, ma

18. The Great Samuel Genoway(s) Mystery [1]
The first Samuel, son of Joseph and Sarah, had two sons, Clinton (the second) and Gilbert. Both boys enlisted during the Civil War. Gilbert was KIA. Clinton was taken as a prisoner of war by Confederate Forces. After the war, Clinton returned to Illinois, married, and had a family. At some time between 1870-1880, Clinton moved his family to Garden Plain Twp, Sedgwick Co, Kansas. The 1880 census list a Clinton January, 40, born IN; Mary, 38, born in IN; Edith born 1868/69 in IL; Francis born 1870

Dear Lynn: This is great information on the Samuels of the family. I agree the first, Samuel F., was the son of Joe and Sally. He had the sons Clinton L. [ll] and Gilbert. It is this Clinton L. who went to Sedgwick Co., Kansas. His Samuel J. (the second) is the one born in Illinois that goes to Sedgwick Co., Kansas, and evidently ends in the insane asylum. The 1880 census information placing them in Garden Plain, Sedgwick Co., KS, is new information that I haven't seen previously. Bev I don't

24. Celebration! [1]
What I love about what all of us (mostly all of YOU) are doing is how this little tiny piece of information, put together with someone ELSE's little tiny piece of paper gives us another bigger piece of the puzzle. It is an amazing thing to watch unfold. I am thrilled to be a part of it all. Charlie, do we have a list of the folks who have joined the list serve in the past six months or so?? Happy hunting! 25. Name Variations [1]
Oh let us count the ways we try to spell Genoway(s)! Well, I don't have a total yet, but I am sending along my response to Sandra's initial email about the various possbilities for spelling our name(and the ways that any record-writer may have misinterpreted it). I am planning on adding a page to the website listing all the possibilites(there really are about 40!?!). Sandra, To answer your questions, I did notice Juneau, but I thought it was a little far off - nothing we have found so far has use
