If anyone knows of an obtainable copy of Keith George's book, I'd like to know about it. Am aware there are none available, even thru' his daughter. I descend from Nicholas George (1600-1675) via his son, James (1625/1632 - 1707). I am convinced that answers to my questions may be buried in another's research files as perhaps their answers may lurk in my GEORGE data base which concentrates on George families 1800-1860 in South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee. Dee, Your grandmother as well as her brothers (your grandmother's mother's sons) would all have her mtDNA, but only her daughters (your grandmother) could pass it on -- which means that your (mother/ father??) would also have the same mtDNA and if that was your mother, so would you. My mother's mother was a George so I also have her mtDNA but none of my children have it. My sisters' children do, however. mtDNA is inherited from their mother by both males and females but only passed on by fema

Hunter, Are you the one researching these families?: "Researching the following: George, Critz, Redd, Hughes, Frost, Penn, Dalton, Hunter, Dandridge, Horton, Scarborough, Pace, Peebles, Ellis, Maiolatesi, Zaffiro, Thomas, Pritchard, Wright, McFarland and many others." I'm asking because I have a GEORGE-HORTON connection. The GEORGEs and HORTONs got together in Philadelphia in the 1800s. The HORTONs were originally from Massachusetts (1790s), Rhode Island and New Jersey before moving to Philadelphia,

Hi Suzan. You can have your DNA tested but it will trace back on your maternal side. Your son's DNA would reflect his father's line. You need a male George. Do you have a brother, uncle (your father's brother) or a George male cousin? 15. Re: [GEORGE] George DNA [1]
I recommend people submit DNA samples to the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation, http://www.smgf.org. It is completely free. It takes six months to a year to have results included in the database. To request a kit complete the form here: http://www.smgf.org/pages/request_kit.jspx. If you have any questions, let me know. There are always questions. I have been advocating this for a few years now on various lists and with different projects. Aaron> From: SBelle40@aol.com> Date: Thu, 24 Jan 2008 22:17:43
