Joe, being careful is particularly true in this case. My Pressley GEORGE, of
Stokes Co., NC had a brother named Isaac. Their father is Reuben GEORGE who
was born in Orange Co., VA. This has added to the confusion as there were
several Reuben Georges born in VA between 1700 and 1800. One of the purposes of the
GEORGE DNA PROJECT is to help in the clarification of different George lines.

Hello,
I am looking for any information on Enoch and Emma Sanders George. In 1900,
US Census shows them in Rome, Georgia. In 1910, US Census shows them in
Iredell, Bosque Co., TX.
I cannot find them anyplace in 1920 or 1930. I have been told they were in
San Antonio,TX, but cannot find any records except their daughter, Louise George
Ferguson and husband, French Ferguson and children living in San Antonio,TX
in 1930. I would love to make acquaintance with any descendant of this family.
Thank you,
Jane
I replied to the sender instead of the list a while ago. So here is

born sometime around 1750. He was a captain in the Chatham County
militia in the Revolution. He owned land in Orange, Durham, and Chatham
County. We believe that he was the father of our ancestor Joseph George
b abt 1769 in Chatham County, NC but no proof yet. He was living next
door to Joseph and Isaac George on New Hope Creek in Chatham County i

There was a comment about the prevalence of Presley as a given name in the
George family. Obviously, William, John, Thomas, and those sorts of names
are common in lots of families. But is my observation that many surnames
develop certain prevalent given names that are otherwise not all that
common. For example, my England family has lots of Titus Englands, and my
Cox family has lots of Harmon Coxes. And there seem to be a lot of Titus
Englands in what appear to be unrelated lines, and there appear

Dear Listers,
My name is Sharolyn Redfern and I live in Alberton, South Africa. I am
hoping that someone might be able to shed some light on my George Family.
Any information at all would be greatly appreciated.
My Grandfather was Frank William GEORGE born on board ship in Hong Kong on
12 November 1911. I am told that his father Walter Wallace GEORGE (married
to Gladys Ivy DAVY) was send to India in the War by the military but at the
last minute orders were changed and they were sent to Hong Kong

I have written of this before. My ggg grandmother was Rebecca Frances
George of Stokes County, NC. She is a brick wall.
I strongly suspect that she was related to one of the various Presley
Georges of Stokes County because she had a grandson named Pressley George
Harrison (known to my father as Uncle Press).
