Dear Judi, Most of my effort is for Screven Co, which inevitably involves Effingham and Bulloch Cos. A description of some of the available resources follows. I also have, in draft form, a short description of the older records at the Screven Co Probate office (and on microfilm at SJRL) - if that is of interest to you, please let me know. 4. [GEORGIA-L] MIZELL PEAVY JONES DICKSON MOORE Effingham/Screven/Bulloch [1]
This information principally concerns the late 18th and early 19th century records of Luke MIZELL d 1827 and his grandson Guilford PEAVY b c 1800. Prominent in these records are the DICKSON, DOUGLAS, HENDRICKS, JONES, LANIER, MOORE, and WILLIAMS families. Some of this information is from The History of Screven County, Georgia (edited by Dixon HOLLINGSWORTH, 1989, 318 pp); most of the remainder is from indices and published abstracts of the records of Effingham Co GA (formed 1777, primarily from St. Matthew
5. [GEORGIA-L] WALKER SC>GA d. ca. 1839 [1]
Since there seem to be a number of WALKER researchers on this list, perhaps someone can help me with one of my dead ends: ? WALKER (d. 1839/40) m. Susan ? (born ca. 1805 SC) Susan was a head of household in the 1840 census of Fayette County GA, but in 1850, Julia was shown as being 10 years old--that's how I'm deducing Mr. WALKER's death date. I've checked the 1830 census of Fayette Co., but the only WALKER family listed doesn't seem to match, so I don't know where they were then, and I'm no closer to

10. [GEORGIA-L] MOSELEY, Coweta Co. GA [1]
I am interested in information about the descendants of David MOSELEY, probably the eldest son of the Rev. Elijah MOSELEY and his second wife, Susannah HUBBARD. Of the nine children of this marriage, David is the only sibling known to have remained in Georgia; the others (apart from the three youngest daughters about whom I have no information) ended up in Dallas Co. 13. Re: [GEORGIA] Gravestone Question [0.978618]
I hope I am not offending anyone with the "religious aspect of this response, that is not my intent". and I am not an expert on these symbols, but I have found them on several tombstones in NC - here's what I looked up and have put in my "genealogy notes" on them. So, if there is another explanation I would love to hear it as well, but since my family were for the most part die-hard Baptists - this made sense to me. I could be wrong but it probably is stating their "religious affiliation" - If it is a st
