Sorry, I misread the question.
Did Neu Balzer have an alternate name ?
It would have had a Russian one as well.
If no one knows it, 2 ways of finding out, is to use the
Jewish Stetlseeker and the www.calle.com/world
These might well give you exact Lat and Long.
Then get a very good Russian map - and look it up there.

Vera's information makes a big difference.
The ShtelSeeker site shows the village a "SPLAVNUKHA" which has only one
more letter, the "H"
That puts the location about 40 miles South-West of the Saratov area. Which
makes more sense.
Thanks Vera for your help.

I have been monitoring this site now for several years. My Ancestors settled and Homesteaded in many areas of Colorado, Nebraska, and Kansas. I think your obit. information has been a tribute to those in passing and very informative to those of us who do not get all the newspapers necessary for that information.
This is a site for German-Russian information. I am a researcher of my family, obits. is a major part of that information. Jack Lehman made a statement that he turned
Hi Cousins:
I am working on research selections to print for coming family roots reunion booklet. Is there a way to print charts without printing birth dates of living people? That is, without going in and deleting all the birthdates? Eeuu, that would be terrible.
Can anyone advise me?

Dear Listers;
For all who are interested in viewing some of the sites of the
Schnell, Sauer, Brill, + + + upcoming Norka Family Reunion in August, I
am sending two websites for your pleasure. The last website is a map
showing the location of Viking.
BTW... The famous Hockey Sutter Brothers are my cousins. Their mother

first wife, Christina (nee Brill) older sister of my Grandmother,
Katherine Elizabeth (nee Brill) all Norka born.
Paul,
In reply to your question,
the articles are usually about individual people and events, as originally
published in the
newspaper of the day, rather than specific treatises on the topic of VG per
se, although a significant part of the Little Russia's population were from
Pfeifer, Kamenka and other neighboring villages.
The topic might be about the 1903 flood which dispersed many of the VG to
other parts of the USA or with their relatives in Argentina, or Flagstaff
Arizona; as well as wiping out the
Mike and I would like to thank everyone for the input on this and we are
diligently working on that input to try and get the Declaration of Intent
(hopefully it has the family information we are looking for). Each day we
take 2 steps forward on our research of Mike's family and if we ever find
out exactly where in Germany they came from, we plan to take him there on
our next visit.

I wonder if someone can point me in the right direction.
I'll looked for Julius Miller on the shipping lists all over the
place, but never seem to find him.
On the Lincoln 1920 census, his widow claims to have arrived
in 1889 in USA ( from Warenburg ).
He would have travelled together with his family, I presumably.

Dear Vera and listers,
The name of a town mentioned as SPLASONUSKS might derived from some
specific name which ends with NOVSK or OVSK, something like this. For
example, SPASOVSK sounds in a very Russian style but SPASONOVSK is not.
SPASINOVSK doesn't sound good, too :-))) As well as SPLAVNUKA...
Examples: PAVLOVSK, a small city in St.Petersburg area named, I
believe, in memory of a Russian Emperor Pavel the First. Another
example - Dnepropetrovsk (modern Ukraina) named for Peter the Great

Please continue sending the obit's to this list. I don't know about other Village Coordinators, but I for one have many, many surnames I am trying to fill in the blanks, and keep records on, so I read everyone of the obit's that have a surname I am looking for. I just save them to a separate folder till I have the time to check them out. I have quite a few saved so far!!!

Dear Friends,
The AHSGR and GRHS both have a vital interest in the collection and
preservation of matters relating to the history, heritage and genealogy of
the Germans from Russia. Both organizations are currently making every
effort to preserve and facilitate access to the vital information found in
obituaries. I can speak only for AHSGR about our efforts in this regard and
I rely on GRHS to inform the German Russian communities they serve to do
likewise.

Well done Alexander -
I like your initiative.
Ok - now that you have a tarnslation -
with hilarious lines = please share the fun bits with me.
Privately, if you do not want to annoy the List.
One thing I learnt from the article that getting beaten up
periodically is in the nice old peasant/village tradition, when once a
year, the village youths would assemble and attack the village
youths of the other village - until one side "wins" -
kind of a antiquated "passage of rites" into manhood,
and reminded me
