Listmembers: Does anyone know the origin of the name REWITZER?
There are several spelling variations: Rebitzer, Rawitzer, Rabizter,
Rabicer
It is known that the name is found in several villages in the Radbusa
River valley
in Kries Bischofteintiz in western Bohemia. It has been said that the
name comes from a
Czech word having to do with grapes of grape harvesting. What would the
Czech equivalent
for this name be, and where can it be found?

Hello all
I keep getting duplicates of all postings. Is there something you can do

Is there someone who does reseach in the area for a reasonable price?
This is in no way an endorsement and I am not connected in any way with this enterprise; only found it while searching for postcards (which often yield great pictures) of the "Heimatland". I know several list members search for pictures of their area and this is a great way to find them (other than the occasion eBay find):
The site is available in both English and German.

My GGGP came over on the Bark Geestemunde from Bremen and landed at Baltimore on 14 June 1862. The ships manifest list them as follows: Johann Lattal, age 55; Anna, wife, age 40; children Wenzel,
age 15; Barbara, 13; Franz, 11; Johann, 8; Joseph, 4; Louise, 9 mo.
They are all listed as from Bohmen and were on their way to Iowa.
No record in Iowa. Name changed to LATAL and some picked up in St. Louis, MO on 1880 census. Have never been able to find there
home. Any info would be appreciated.

Hello,
I've done some searching on the town of Borathien, Bohemia. This is the town
that is on my 3X great grandmother's church burial records. I've checked with
UW geography library and had no luck. Now I received an answer from a
professional who studies Bohemian genealogy and he said it's, Stucanoff,
Bohemia. Before I call the UW library again, has anyone heard of this town
and where I can see a map of it?
Thank-you,
Vikki
I'm seeking information of my gr gr grandfather Franz{Frank} Albrecht. That
