3. David Huffman & Louisa Shank [0.976744]
I am looking for information on the ancestors of David Huffman (b. Virginia , 1803, d. Logan Co., Ill 1854) and his wife Louisa Shank (b. Virginia 1802, d. Mason Co., Ill 1893). Family migrated from Page Co., Va to Logan Co., Ill. in 1847. Much circumstantial evidence links family to Germanna. Older relatives had been told that the family was from Page Co., and near Culpeper, Va. Religious background was German Reformed. Also, exhaustive search of cemetery records in and around Page Co. show tha

5. Jacob Klodsloe Part 9 [0.976744]
This is part nine of the Autobiography of Abraham Hoss Yeager entitled "Jacob Klodsloe-One Of The Nobodies" published in 1899. Thanks to Gene Wagner for archiving these notes on his web site at: http://www.inficad.com/~genelea/jacob.htm Several of you have sent me comments that Abraham's middle name was Hass. I too have both this mother's name as Selena Hass and his middle name as Hass. But according to his Granddaughter Katherine Yeager Malraven, he went by Hoss. That's good enough for me. Hass, of cours

8. Jacob Klodsloe Part 6 [0.976744]
This is part 6 of Abraham Hoss Yeager's autobiography entitled "Jacob Klodsloe - One Of The Nobodies". Hope you enjoy it. Chapter 1 Cont. From the foregoing can be gathered something of the thought and feeling that moved and impelled the private soldier of the confederacy, when the fourth year of the bloody struggle opened. That year was to be and was a battle of battles. From March to November was one fight, but it was not in these that the confederate cause was lost. With the South, the deciding ba
9. Meaning of German Word [0.976744]
My Second Colony ancestor was Michael Hold. In researching his baptismal record, I noticed a word that either preceded or followed the mother's name. The word is "Uxor.". It also appeared following the names of the god-parents. The record is from the year 1696. Does anyone know the meaning of this word or abbreviation? Thanks, Warren Talley buckt@netpath.net

The inventory of Mr. Hager's estate has been preserved, and as it may be of interest to know of what the furniture of a minister's house in Virginia consisted of in those days, and what its value was, it is given in full, as nearly verbatim et literatim as can now be made out from the record book. 15. Re: Manspiels and Mansfields [0.976744]
I am a descendant of Rachel Barlow, daughter of Adam Barlow. I have lots of info on that family. Rachel's great grandson Peter A. Kinslow married Sarah Elizabeth Mansfield whose grandfather William Mansfield was born in Culpepper County, VA according to LDDS listings (which are sometimes inaccurate). Gene Key, Marietta Mansfield and I are speculating that this William Mansfield might have been descended from Jacob and maybe even John Manspiel (Manspoil, and other spellings). My question, "what is the likeli

18. (319)Germanna Colonies, History of [0.976744]
The three hundred and nineteenth note is a series on the Germanna Colonies A recent note spoke of John Wilhoit and his wife Margaret "Peggy" Weaver. John Wilhoit was the son of Johann Michael Willheit and his wife Anna Maria Hengsteler. Margaret "Peggy" Weaver was said to be the daughter of Peter Weaver and Mary B. Huffman. (The source for this may have been Germanna Record 13, page 50.) Just the simplest of time lines shows that the above statement concerning Margaret Weaver could not be true. She would

St. George, Is there any way to tell if I have been kick of the list. It seems periodically my mail server goes down for a period of time for any number of reasons. My problem is that if the list gets a message bounced in automatically unscribes the bounceee. When removed a mail message is sent. The problem is that depending on why the server and when the server is down I might or might not get the message. 23. Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany Home Page [0.976744]
My Wayland line supposedly came from the Baden-Wurttemberg area of Germany. I found the following site that is run by a present resident of that area, and it is in English. http://www.rootsweb.com/~deubadnw/ It has maps, county index and town register and other interesting information. A similar page is probably available on other areas of Germany. You can look up a list of the email addresses of persons who have posted info or inquiries about the different lines originating in Baden-Wurttemberg. John
24. ROCK [0.976744]
Hi Teresa: I have tried to find the County for Union Village in my atlas to no avail (there is now a Union Hall, Union Level and Unionville). I wonder if Union Village became one of those counties, or whether the person who filed the death certificate had the wrong information. I do know that my maternal grandfather, John Cresmer, was born to Harmon and Mary Sophia Rock Cresmer, 16 Sept 1871, in Essex County (Old Rappahannock County) Virginia. The family then removed to California to the Los Angeles area
25. Great site to locate a town [0.976744]
I located the following site which I found very useful. You just type in the name of the town and it will give you the location anywhere in the world. You can then call it up on a map. By right-clicking on the map surface, you can then save the map as a picture file on your computer. http://www1.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm John Wayland
