both and can refer you to others that have more on Margaret. I am
related to Francis. He is a brother to my great grandfather, John,
from Ohio. These Glidden's aren't in Virginia. Let me hear from
you.

My mother was Charlotte Glidden, Father was Dr. Stephen Glidden and
Dr. Annie Cannon Ives Glidden last of Danville, Ill. Can you tell
me if that is a line of the family you are aware of? His father
was the inventor of barbed wire as I know it.

Dear list,
I finally did it. I created a homepage for the list! This site
http://www.mdwsweb.com/genealogylists/ contains information about
the list plus links to other useful sites.
Along with it comes a brand new Welcome Letter for the list. This
time I'm trying something new. Rather than send the Welcome Letter
to the list as an email as I've done in the past I'm leaving it up
to you members to retrieve the letter from the homepage. Just go
to the URL above and follow the link to the welcome

Hello William Glidden! So nice to meet someone else digging into the Gliddens! Sounds like you've really been at it awhile! Unfortunately, my look through my records doesn't show anything helpful. I did a quick look on-line, and do see John C. and his family in the Census in Freedom, Kennebuc, ME from 1820 all the way through to 1850, when he's 60 and Margaret's 59, and then John shows up one more time in the 1860 census in Freedom, but without Margaret - he's living with one of his sons, I believe.

to meet my great-grandmother who was gone before my time. And I'm
sure my father, who is still alive and kicking, would like to see
his grandmother again. And while we're at it let's bring her
husband Edward Jones Washburn back who was gone even before my
father's time.
