Lori the dates on the list are they dates of inlistment not birth dates.
The Agrippia Spinks matches to one of my relatives but we have it spelled
Spanks and he IS the one that I have down as being on the Civil War and
that matches his inlistment date. Do you know any more about those listed
above.
Thank You

Jennifer!
I apologize for getting you and myself in trouble!
Of course I didn't send money to you - I sent it to Rootsweb at that Frazier
Park address in CA!
(And I can tell you that is the best bargain on the Internet!)
Your name was easier to come up with (before daybreak) than that "Charlie
Brown" address in California!
I assure you the Godwins aren't all dead yet!
I've heard from a bunch of them since 7 o'clock this morning!
Cheers Everyone! (Forgive me Jen!)

Agrippa Spanks Godwin was killed in the civil war in Misouri. Does anyone
know what side he was fighting on. I may be able to look up more information
on him if I knew.
I have just finished scanning an album of mainly anonymous photographs
belonging to Florence Lucy Cocker (born 26 June 1877 East Dereham, Norfolk).
The only identified photographs are of her mother Emily Cocker (nee

The other photographs include one taken in Washington D C, and another in

Two photographs are taken in Hartlepool and one of a soldier in Middlesboro.
All the remainder were taken in East Dereham, Norwich and one in

Hi Everybody!
Has everyone on this list expired?
I just sent in my $24 to Jen for this year and now I'm wondering "What For"??
If I'm going to get my money's worth this year, you, my cousins, need to
communicate! With everyone!
Joking aside, I still have good "Godwin Stuff" to share with you! I just had
to get my eyesight back first!

Absolutely! I can never remember to check those boards. Having them run

Thanks for the clarity Jen! I didn't think we had to pay just to be on the
mailing list. I agree with you about the $ to Rootsweb I don't intend to
support them now they've changed their status etc.

Bill,
Is it OK to send your letter to the Godwin List?
You've got a lot of good Godwin information there, and usually if someone
knows anything about your family they will share it with you.
I think your best bet is to join the Godwin List! There is no charge for
that but there is a (voluntary) yearly $24 contribution or dues to Rootsweb
for handling the mailing list.
I send those $ happily because, when this list is active there is a lot of
information coming out! And many folks have benefited gr

add to these numbers!
If you've never stopped by, we're at:

Hi...
I thought I'd re-post my inquiry as there seems to be a lot of activity on
this list in the last couple of days.
I'm looking for any info on:
James Godwin b. ca. 1780-90 in MD
All I have is his name from my gr-gr-grandmother's death certificate, and
the state he supposedly was born in from a census on her and her husband.
Her name is:
Mary Ann Godwin b. 12 Aug 1819 in MD d. 24 Mar 1909 in Knox
Co., Oh. She m. Samuel H. Hobbs prob. 31 Oct 1841 in Baltimore
MD
Her name appears as Ma

Just to clarify:
1.) This money is NOT to me. It's a voluntary
contribution &/or dues to RootsWeb, which runs the
mailing list.
2.) I do NOT work for RootsWeb, not now nor ever, nor
would I want to. I used to promote voluntary
contributions to them quite heavily, but since they've
filed for for-profit status, have taken on venture
capital and so on, I figure I shouldn't put my
reputation on the line shilling for them.
