To Marilyn Otterson-
After seeing your posting regarding William Francis Goff, I made an inquiry
of John W. Goff and he was able to supply the following information about
his side of the NE Goffs. I don't know how much it helps but it may give
you some new leads to follow.
I was interested in your inquiry because of research I am doing, looking
into the descendents of Edward Whalley and William Goffe, the regicides.
The name 'William Francis Goff' is interesting in itself because, as you may
know, Willi

Can anyone identify the parents and/or siblings of this Ira Mason GOFF??
In the Hardinville Cemetery in Crawford Co., IL, there is a stone, a very nice
one, for GOFF, Ira Mace, June 10 1884 - Sept. 1 1967 and GOFF, Lola Weger, Oct.
27 1896 - Apr. 1 1987. "Our Crawford County Heritage" gives us "Lola SHIPMAN,
b 27 Oct 1895, m 1st Williard WEGER, 2nd Ira Mason GOFF."

Does anyone have any knowledge, ideas, or suggestions as to the parents of this
boy??
Jasper M. PRICE? GOFF? was born in 1853 in IL. "Cemeteries of Lawrence County,
Illinois" lists him as a son of L. (probably should read I.) and E.M. GOFF, age
10 years and 1 day at time of death, which (if correct) would place his birth
date at 14 Feb 1853 . If Jasper was a son of Mary Jane PRICE and Iredell
GOFF, this age cannot be correct, and Jasper was either a twin of Mary Francis
GOFF, born Dec 1852, or he w
Brenda Jo,
Thanks so much - I tried your method and it worked. However, now I really
feel dumb, for once I use the "search" and find the name "Byram" as Gene
suggested to me, then what do I do? I hit enter thinking it would take me
to that section of his website that has the surname, but nothing worked.
Forgive me for being so slow about this, but this advanced method of webpage
has me confused.
Thanks for your help,
Janice

I posted a little bit about Charity Gough on the Logan Co., KY GenConnect
board under "Wills". It's not much, but might help a little bit. I was not
sure about the Benjamin given name, so you have cleared that up for me. My
interest is in William GOUGH and his wife Lucy BYRUM of Logan/Butler Co.,
KY. I believe this Charity Gough you mention is a granddaughter to the
above GOUGH family and a daughter to William GOUGH, Jr. and his wife Judith
TAYLOR.

Dear Cousins,
I have been searching for my ancestor, William Francis Goff for several
years. He was born in 1783 and was married to Rebecca Bates in Greene
ME. They lived in Sidney ME and raised a big family. I have not been
able to find any records of his parents. Family lore says William was
from NH or Cambridge MA area, but I have not been able to place him
anywhere.
Now what? Any suggestions or hints gratefully accepted.

Hi Gene,
Twice this morning I attempted to access your webpage. Both times, it would
load with a "pop-up" window saying something about "my computer can use the
full capabilities of this website - choose more to learn about or cancel".
The first attempt locked up my computer, which had to be re-booted with a
hard start. The second time, a soft re-boot wouldn't work either, after it
locked up by choosing cancel and I had to do another hard re-boot. My
