Dear List, The following - I posted to this list (maybe with less
elaboration) a few years ago - thought it time to post again. I was at
the first Union - when I mentioned the Hardy Co WVA Goings to people at
the Union, I just got blank stares. There has to be a connection.
When reading this over, please take notice of the Michael of Shenandoah.

Research Tip: Plot That Plot
While some people start thinking about cemeteries when Halloween
rolls around, genealogists tend to think about them far more often.
Why? Because cemeteries can be excellent sources of information about
our ancestors.
Tombstones can reveal names, birth and death dates, spouses, and
children. Some family monuments and mausoleums can provide data on
several generations of the same family. And one graveyard can contain
dozens of headstones comme

your deep emotions of this day.
Be safe and know that I am holding you close.

I am trying to find the link between the SPURLOCK and GOINS family who lived
in a section of Hancock County, Tennessee and Lee County, Virginia, that
bordered Scott County, Virginia. The two families seem to have come together
from Henry County, Virginia. The Hancock family of Henry County may be
related to them.
Both families by tradition were Indians and they served together in the
American Revolution along with David Denham.
Thanks!
Best wishes,

Tina,
My Goin's have some NA blood, it is REAL easy to see in their pictures,,,
but so far, since I haven't found my Gr Gr Grandpa
JAMES W. GOIN's, b. abt 1838-39ish
family, we can't prove it yet, OR which tribe. HOWEVER, I am almost
positive it has to be Cherokee due to area's where he was at when he married
my Gr. Gr. Grandmother, Dicey Myers!
All we know is that he was b. in Tn, and that he had a younger brother Isaac
Goin's,,, b. abt 1844.

There are around 12-15 Goins who sued to obtain Cherokee citizenship in
the late 1800's, claiming they were of Cherokee descent! There is a
huge, complete full
name index of all these people at http://members.aol.com/rarebk/
Some of the names I recognized were Adam, James, a Mary, and a Nancy.
There were more.
I also found a surname index to another Cherokee book at the site, an old
book, supposedly rare, called Old Cherokee Families and their genealogy,
with a lot of English names, but did not check
Folks;
You cannot get this virus from the List... BUT ... this virus (worm) works
this way... whenever a person has this virus (usually they don't even know
they have it) and email comes into their computer, the worm replies to that
email and sends an attachment containing the virus. This is how it spreads
itself.
What is happening is that evidently there are a few people on the list who
have the virus (worm) in their computers and probably do not realize it.
Whenever someone posts to the list, it goes to
More info for you from the VIRUS people
The latest one, "W32/Badtrans@MM", looks at the UNREAD
email in the InBox, then "replies" to ALL those emails. It
doesn't, like other infections, mess with the Address Book.
It sends itself to the original posters of the emails, and those
people receive them FROM the person whose system is
infected. So, with this specific virus, no, you won't receive
email from anyone who is NOT infected.
Folks, please use care when clicking to open attachments!!!!!
When you do so, you stand a good chance of infecting your
system and spreading viruses, worms, trojans, etc. to thousands
of others.
There are a number of viruses floating about because someone on the
Lists under Rootsweb became infected and they forwarded an
attachment. Please, Please do not forward anything without
copy and pasting.
Please be cautious in opening attachments.
Thanks
