Hi...
Does anyone have a James GORDON b. ca. 1790-95 in MD. with a daughter
Mary Ann b. 1819 in MD?
I can't read her father's name on her death certificate. It looks like
GODMAN/GODWIN but could also be GOODMAN/GOODWIN by taking misspellings
into consideration.
Her marriage record states the name as GORDON though. But I thought her
name was GOODEN. Yikes!.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Susan Hobbs

Seriously doubtful with what you have furnished. The term "Maritime
Officer" covers a multitude of occupations and employers. He could have
been an officer of the U.S. Merchant Marine, a ship's officer of a
one-ship fleet hired on for a single voyage, an employee of a cargo or
passenger line, etc. etc. etc. Ships' officers (the proper term) were
the Captain or Master, the Mate (sometimes as many as three mates), the
Boatswain, the Quartermaster, the Purser, etc. After steamships were

I am looking for information on William and Amy (Heiss) Gordon, who
lived in NJ in the 1830s, son William and daughter Harriet (Gordon)
Crooks. May have settled in Ohio after that. Any leads would be

I am interested in finding any information on Charles Gordon (circa 1880
or 1890). He married Clara Wineghotten (spelling?) around 1905. They
had two sons Raymond who died at age three and my father Glenn Maurice
Gordon born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1908. Charles, my
grandfather, was a barker in the circus. My Grandmother sold kisses in
the same circus. Charles left with the circus when Glenn was four never
to be seen again by the family. Clara kept Glenn until he was about 8.

In tracing my GORDON family, I have found that there were numerous families in
the same areas by the name of MOSS. There was an Elizabeth MOSS living in the
household with the James C. GORDON family in 1850 in Jackson Co, TN.
I have not been able to find a MOSS Page on the Internet or a MOSS Mailing
List to learn more about this family. If anyone knows of a Page or a List for
the MOSS family, I would appreciate receiving the URL/address.
Thanks.

I need to determine if the George Gordon who married Margaret Milne on
August 11, 1827 in Pitsligo Parish, Abderdeenshire, Scotland, is the son
of William Gordon and Jean Renny (married october 24, 1794) or the son
of Robert Gordon and Mary Scott.
William and Jean's George Gordon was born on August 14, 1801. Robert
and Mary's George Milne Gordon was born February 5, 1802.
Any info would be much appreciated!

Hello!
I am searching for information about my ggg-Grandfather and his family.
I have been able to trace my roots back to John GORDON, which I found in the
1860 Beaver Co. Pennsylvania Census (Industry Twp.). John GORDON was born
about 1820 in Virginia (1870 says WVA and 1880 says Maryland and his sons
cenus records say he was born in PA). I think I might have found him in the
1850 Census for Brooke Co, WVA, so my guess is that he was born in the arm
of West Virginia. His wife is Margaret A ( ), born
