Am looking for anyone that might could add some info to this data on this Grass family. He md my 4x grandfather's dau, Jane Smeathers...they had 7 children, that we know of....could have had more, maybe died....as there are gaps bet some of the dob's of the children.....some of the children have VERY little info on and the story abt the Judge is handed down folklore like we have NEVER been able to prove at all....if ANYONE can add any tidbit of info we would sure appreciate it, thanks kindly, Nena ~~~

Amy, Yes, that Matilda A. GRASS was the dau. of Robert GRASS(3) and Susan GROOMS. Matilda was b. 17 Jun 1818 in Augusta Co., VA, died on 16 Sep 1971 in Casey, Clark Co., IL. She was and md. to Rev. Ephraim SHUEY (s.o. John SHUEY and Catherine FUNKHOUSER) on 10 Dec 1835. Much of the information that I have came from snailmail correspondence tieh John D. Warren of Fremont, CA in 1993. Robert GRASS(3) was the son of Frederick GRASS(2) of Augusta Co., VA and his wife (haven't proven her name as yet)

Nena... Is this typical for families from Germany or in general? I can say that this is not typical for Scandinavian countries; they usually followed strict naming conventions but not the ones described below.
