===Origins of the elided surname of Grierson===
There are several theories as to the origin of the surname Grierson. One theory is that the Grierson surname was derived from the surname of Gregor; however, it has also been widely reported since (Colonel) Alexander Fergusson's time that "there is no evidence of the belief commonly current, that the Griersons were descended from the MacGregor Clan" (Fergusson's Laird of Lag, 1886). The people I noticed that are making these decisions are wholely ignorant, and are about 21 years of age. They wouldn't known an infringement, if it hit them square in the nose, bloody and screaming.
The work (all of it) is either in "Fair Use" or Public Domain, among other things. I am proud of the work, it will stand the test of time, all of which was researched, or quoted and the authority is so obvious, it just shows how ignorant that particular group is.
Have a wonderful christmas,

Archibald McBrair b. December 1547, m. 0-Dec-1567, Agnes Grierson, (daughter of Roger Griersoune of Lag and Egidia Kennedy, Lady of Lag). When his father died Archibald was still a minor and we see other families occupying the provostship till Archibald came of age. Indeed he did not even wait till then, being elected Provost in September, 1568, three months before he legally became of age. In 1570 Provost Archibald and Bailie James Rig were Dumfries' representatives at the Convention of Royal Burghs. Prov
