1. Raph? [1]
I have been told that my ancestor's name "Raph" is a derivative of Reeb or Rape. Does anyone else have any information to this effect? Harlan M. Zeinstra
2. [GUS-REEB] Sangamon Co., IL Funderburk [1]
I know some of you are researching Rapes in Sangamon Co., IL, so thought I would pass along this record. There is a War of 1812 pension record for David Funderburgh and wife, Hannah Henkle, on the Ancestry database 'War of 1812 Pension Application Files Index, 1812-1815.' Under index Fulm-GA, it's image 38. Since the Rapes and Funderburks are often found together, I thought this might help someone. If you need a copy of the image, I can send it to you. Regards, Virginia
3. [GUS-REEB] Rapes Buried in Houston Co., GA [1]
Thanks Virginia for the information regarding the Centerville Cemetery in Houston Co., GA. I have interest in the GARVIN family that also has burials there. Isaac GARVIN married Jane HUSTON (HOUSTON). The HUSTON family is related to Sam HOUSTON. I think it was one of those family spelling situations. I'll check out the Houston County area for more information about this other branch of my family. Linda Hammer
4. Re: [GUS-REEB] Rapes Buried in Henry Co, GA [1]
Janet, I am so glad that information is coming in again. Thanks for sending your information. I will have to get my GA and NC maps out to see exactly where the towns are. I lived in GA for 3 years, in fact, my Son was born at Fort Stewart GA. I used to spend time in Savannah, for it was so beautiful. I am looking for Nicolaus Reeb son of the immigrant Peter Reeb in PA. I wonder sometimes if I am looking in the wrong place, for he could have gone South at a later date. I won't know until I find him
5. Re: [GUS-REEB] Merry Christmas [1]
I too want to thank you Diann for your great leadership on this list. I appreciate it so much. I live near Denver, Colorado and it has been a very cold and snowy winter here too. It was a minus 18F at DIA early this morning and it is only minus 7F here now. Please send some of that global warming this way. We do have a forecast of 16F above zero and the sun is shining, so all is not bad (I'm sure it'll be colder in Madison, Wisconsin). Ron F. Miller, thanks for the laughs this morning in your email.
6. Re: [GUS-REEB] Merry Christmas [1]
Thanks for your support to the list. I know your year has been very challenging, but God has been there for you through all of your challenges. Stan, you looked good in the picture that Gail sent to me. I am glad you are feeling good. Have a very Merry Christmas and let us hope the New Year is full of good events. Everyone calls me Di, so from now on I will be signing as Di. I always have to think to put Diann down. dicer > From: sgferris@clarkswb.net > To: gus-reeb@rootsweb.com > Date: Th

Thank you for the Christmas Greeting, and the kind words. I will try to get some pictures on line for the members to see. It will take a while for me to find all the files. We have pictures on two computers and on CD's, some I will have to scan so that I may send them. It will be a job and a half for me to do. I guess I keep putting it off, but a promise is a promise. We still have allot of unfound family in the USA, some that just disappear. Finding them is what I am trying to do. Someday they wil

Ron and all, It is nice to hear from a very happy Ron Miller. You are full of life and so active, I wish I could be that active. I am glad to hear you had a nice time in Russia, I know it is hard work, but it sounds, as though it, was worth it. I see by your words that you have a great sense of humor. I know Chicago very well, as I was born 40 miles from there, a place called Elgin. My Dad who was born in 1891 used to tell me tales of Al Capone. I remember the stories well. Good ole Illinois! As f

Yes, these people are from Ohio. Maurer's and Reebs are connected from way back when. Pam is from the Maurer's. I will look back in some areas that include Maurer's and try to give you some information. Pam would be in the Gus-Reeb archives, if you would like to take a look. John V was helping her get her line together for quite sometime, I do not know about now. I have enjoyed and appreciated the messages that you have posted this past year. The information is fascinating and lets me know that you are still finding ways in which we are connected. Still, I would appreciate knowing more about you; sharing pictures of our families would be a special way of "connecting on a personal level". I agree with Diann Dillow when she remarked in a recen

I just wanted to thank you for helping me find some of my wife's Reeb kin this year and to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. We just had our every ten year bit of snow 6 years early. 22. Re: [GUS-REEB] Rapes Buried in Houston County, Georgia [1]
Thank You Virginia, There are allot of Rape names in this cemetary. I recognize Joyce Harrison's name by a few. Our relatives have traveled very far, and we can learn so much with this kind of information. I wish there were more lists of cemetaries in all of the states. I am sure the Southern States have many Rape surnames. Ohio is another place with many of our surnames. Now we are probably in every State in the Union. France, is full of knowledge of our past. We still have relatives there.

Merry Christmas James! I am so glad to hear from you. It has been a long time now. Paris must be all lit up with beautiful lights by now. Christmas is very special to me. We all have been lucky to keep our spirits up during all this financial crisis. I am looking forward to the New Year and a New President. I hope we can get our act together and become the Nation that we were. American is great and I love it, but we need to do better. I hope France stays safe and all the other nations so close
