I sent a copy of these to Shannon and thought maybe the list would like them
as well. I located these from books by Brent Howard Holcomb at the Chester
District Genealogical Society Library in Richburg, South Carolina. That was
before I knew my connection to the Rape family at large. I was hunting
anything on the Rape family in Lancaster County, SC. The Chester DGS covers
Lancaster County as well. I used the spellings just as I found them, as
follows:

Hello everyone. I just joined and thought I would tell you about our
connection with the family.
My wife is Lydia Rose Day Hillsamer. Her father was James Leo Day. His
father, Marion Avery Day married Nannie Belle Bryant.
Nannie was the daughter of Alexander Bryant and Emily Rape of Pittsburg,
TX.
We live in Sulphur Springs, about 40 miles from Pittsburg.
Emily was a daughter of Israel Rape, who was a prominent member of the
community, donating land for a cemetery and I believe a church.

Shannon thank you for the story about your granddad Oscar MYFRIEND. That is
wonderful stuff. I also have to agree with you about some other list. I too
subscribe to several and this is by far the greatest. I also like the
Mecklenburg County, NC list. But you are right about folks either not
responding at all or being negative. That is one of the things I love about
this list, the sharing. John V. Reeb started something really great here.

John, thank you for the Ahnentafel chart for Lorraine's daughter. It took me
a few minutes to figure that Wilhelm (Reeb) Rape was the same person as
Wilhelm Christian (Reeb) Rape son of Johann Theobald Reeb. I did figure that
one correctly, didn't I?
This sharing of information on our respective lines is such a wonderful event.
I thank you each and everyone for all the help you have given me with this
great family of ours. John thank you for all you do for us.
Catch you later.

Most of you probably already know that the Social Security death index
is available on-line (at http://www.ancestry.com/ssdi/advanced.htm).
The downside is that between the spellings RAPPE, RAPE, and REEB,
there are 1022 entries, but the on-line interface only lets you view 10 at
a time. I like to have a hardcopy printout of all the entries for a given
surname so I can refer to it when researching a name without having to
log onto and wait for the web.
So, I put toget
My wife's great great grandfather was Israel Rape who was born September
21, 1812 in Mecklingbergh Co., NC. Israel married Sarah Laney who was born
June 10, 1810. In the 1850's, Israel and a large group of relatives and
friends moved to Camp County, TX where Sarah died in 1860 and Israel died
in 1887.
Israel was also interested in religion. He donated the land for Ebenezer
Church and Cemetery in Camp Co., TX.
I believe we are talking about the same family of Rapes.

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to say thank you for all the postings about the different =

Lonnie,
To my knowledge, the mother of John Rape has not been identified. John's
book mentioned family rumors that her maiden name may have been Baxter,
but that's as much as I have as to her identity. Gustavus later married
Barbara Johnson.

I thank you all for the wonderful additions you made with your introductions.
Deanna, Shannon and Lonnie, thank you. I do have some questions which I hope
will fill in some blanks for me.
Lonnie, speaking of Artificial Intelligence, I need all the help I can get
with this genealogy stuff. Had it not been that I entered the data from each
of you into my Family Tree Program, I would most certainly be lost right now,
but thanks to the wonderful world of computers, I have each of you right in

You asked the names of the children of Peter Rapp. They are:

2. Hannah or Hester Jane Rapp Larch; walked across the

This past week while I was away at Montreat, NC, my traveling partner and
roommate was a lady who attends the Pleasant Grove Camp Ground Meetings every
year with a friend of hers. That friend is Zulene Tucker who attends my
church at Liberty Hill, when she is staying at her lake house. This morning
at church I spoke with Zulene and she was so excited to find a descendant of
John Rape. Zulene is a descendent of the Wolfe family! I can hardly wait to
sit down and talk with her about the Wolfe / Rape conne

Hi Aileen and everyone else,
Yesterday I sent a post that covered all or part of the questions you asked - at
least I HOPE I sent it correctly. If not I'll try this again:)
My mother's name is Grace Bedford BUT she was adopted at an early age. Her birth
name is actually Frances Mae Sims. She was born in 1910/11 in Winchester Idaho.
There is a real mystery surrounding her adoption. It appears
Thanks for the compliments Aileen and so many of the others of you who have
been so generous with your kindness.
I do want to tell all of you (notice that us transplanted Okie southerners
have learned a new way to say Y'ALL so the Yankies among us can also
understand too) that I really appreciate what you are doing by making this
list something that all of us can gain from. So many things have been
happening lately and I am delighted to see the increased interest and activity
with this new list. I am hop
Shannon thank you for the placement of Lois Rose Rape. You are doing a good
job with your line. Thank you for sharing with us.
One question on the Butler Rape line. Whose daughter was Agnes (Agge) Rape.
Was she a daughter of Jacob Rape?
Have a good trip to Washington. Getting to visit your mother and your
children is a great thrill. Tell us about your children when you get back. I
for one look forward to hearing from you again. Good luck with your garden
and do have a safe trip.
Later,
Aileen
I have not yet figured out how to use one of the family tree programs. I
have Brother's Keeper, Ultimate Family Tree, Cumberland Family Tree and
a couple others. I would like suggestions on which program to use. I
know Family Tree Maker is considered a good one but it is also expensive
for us poooor folks.
I either need help with one of the programs I have or suggestions on
what to get. Any ideas?

Good morning everyone,
I just finished reading 50 or so postings to the three other roots.com
groups to which my husband and I belong. Once again I have to wonder why
I waste my time. The majority of these postings are inquiries (which is
good). Rarely does anyone respond and if they do they will often say,
"I'll send you the information in email." No one seems to be willing to
share to the group as a whole. I can't help but think what a shame - we
all could be gaining knowledge. A few days ago a young man
Eldon Hi, you are right about this being the same Rape family. Isreal Rape
was the second son of John Rape and his first wife Millie Forbes. My great
great grandfather Henry R. Rape was the ninth and youngest son of this couple.
The baby brother of Isreal. I am sure that John V. Reeb has helped you by now
but I just wanted to say welcome to the group and please share your line with
us. If you are interested, I will gladly send you an outline of my line. I
gave up on GEDCOM files.

I didn't know until now that Werner is out there. Hi Werner, and all the rest
of our new found cousins. This has been a wonderful experience for me.
Finding new family everyday.
John, could we put together a list of all our ancestors who fought in the
Revolutionary War? I know that Hugh Forbis on a maternal side to my Rape line
is one, as well as Peter Rape, Jr.. That is correct isn't it? Peter, Jr.
Did we have any in the Spanish American War? The Civil War was full of Rape
soldiers.
