James I am curious do you know if the document this particular description of the name of Keskastel was part of the book titled Die evangelischen Gemeinden und Hohen Schulen in Elsass und Lothringen von der Reformation bis zur Gegenwart which was a work by Marie-Joseph Bopp and published in 1963 by Verlag Degener & Co., Inhaber Gerhard Gessner, Neustadt a. d. Thank you for the reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made by Rev. James Joseph Reeb. I think that the Rev. James Joseph Reeb was not only a very good man but also a very patriotic man. He wanted equality for not just one race, ethnicity, or denomination but for all and so he went to Alabama to help make that dream come true.

Pam, I have access to many genealogy sites on the web. Also the Ancestry.com total access, which gives you copies of the original document as does Foot Notes. I also use LDS and the Library. I use many History books also. It is hard to tell you all the places I search, but I do search everyday.
I love genealogy and hunt for everything and usually come up with something. There are so many ways to search, I can not begin to list them all. I am always available to search. I have been doing this since 19
Hello cousins,
In previous post, I promised to send you some personal genealogical data and
a biographical sketch. This promise resulted from the fact that mew list
members may not already know who I am and how I am related to those
descended from Gustavus Reeb. I am actually reposting information that I
first posted a while ago. First let me provide some information related to
my Reeb ancestors.
My father was Floyd Jacob Rapp, born 15 Aug 1893 in Butler County, PA

How appropriate it is to be reminded of the faithful witness of people like
the Rev. Dr. King and the Rev. James Reeb, and to relish what they were able
to accomplish in the area of human rights in this country. Though both their
lives were truncated by the forces of evil and injustice as expressed by
their murderers, we can see clearly the results of their efforts to win over
the hearts of people with a dimmed vision of God's purpose for us as His
children - all of us!
I read Dr. King's eulogy with both
I too am highly humbled to realize the ultimate sacrifice that James J Reeb made for a cause he believed.
Again brings our busy lives into perspective.
Thank you again John V for making this information available due to your extensive research into the Reeb Family.
I spent some time yesterday researching his life as I could via the interent, just google--selma james reeb and you will be surprised at the amount that was and has been written about this man, including a Unitarian Church bearing his name
I did not send the pulse message. I am on pulse, with my daughter. I do not know how this happened.
It was not even blocked. Now I will have to ask the help desk for help. Odd things do happen on computers.

Thank you for the wonderful history lesson. Knowing the history of where we originally came from is very exciting for me. I love history, and this will go in the front page of my Family Book. Thank you Bridgette for gathering this information for us. Thank you James for sending it to us. You are wonderful people. You both have done many nice things for our list. Thanks Again,My Best to both of you.

I appreciate so much learning about the origin of Keskastel. Thank you so much for sharing. Wouldnt it be wonderful if there were a movie that we could just sit down and watch of our ancestors and what their lives were like?

Prayers continue to be greatly appreciated for our 9 1/2 month old Jacob,
Jim. "Thank you" to you and to others whom we know have prayed for him
during his surgeries and his recoveries. It has been quite a journey with
Jake. We just say Jacob is covered with God's fingerprints.
The biggest challenge for Jacob continues to be eating and drinking orally.
Following a medication change for reflux, he basically quit eating and
drinking for about 6 weeks. His medications were readjusted on Mar

Hi Rich, Thanks for the obit on Cyril Arden Rape. By the way, I have not been able to hear anything from Margaret Rape Smith, widow of Jack Smith, since a few years ago when she went into a retirement home. I would like to establish some contact with one of her children. Just wondering if perhaps you may have heard from any of them or anyone who may know either an e-mail address, postal address, or even telephone number where they might be contacted?

Dear list members,
I have purchased No Other Love: The James Reeb Story by Duncan Howlett. When I receive the book and after I read it, I will gladly mail it to anyone who would like to read it. Then you may mail it to anyone else to read. Then the last person may mail it back to me. What ever works, you may pass it on, even to a non list member. I trust you all to return it to me at the end. I really do not know how many of you would like to read it, you may email me and let me know. Gail, I will s
For some reason I keep getting these little reminders from my not so great and often not functioning properly brain that I should wish Diann a Happy Birthday! But alas, I am too late. She could have legitimately have celebrated it already if everything else made that appropriate.
Anyway, Happy Birthday to Diann.

Hello to the list,
I am happy that James RAPP wrote about the Rev. James Reeb!
Few years ago, I was looking in internet about our family name
and I was very surprized that, if I right remember, the same year
I was born (1965) a man who have the same name was killed
during a peaceful march. Life is strange sometimes...
I would like to hope that I have a little of his courage and faith
to fight for human rights!
Have a nice sunday,

Recently there was a little conversation in reference to Rev. James J. Reeb, a good man who really did the Reeb name justice. I doubt very much that any Reeb who knows about James Joseph Reeb will be anything but proud to share his name.
During the recent conversations I decided to scan through the pages of the book No Greater Love, The James Reeb Story by Duncan Howlett for the unknown number of times. I hope that I will not bore anyone but I would like to quote a couple of paragraphs which I find very
And still after all these years and so many sacrifices of so many of all colors and creeds still at times, even in this time, we witness the failure of this country and this world to insure equal opportunity and all of the freedoms that the American dream is supposed to be about. To some this may sound unpatriotic but my question is how can it be to want my country to stand up for the rights of all, including the meek, as well as the mighty.
However, in many ways, there has been some progress and I think
