Rebecca,
I am sorry but I have not been able to figure out exactly who this Squire was,
who was mentioned by John Howard Rape in his letter to his wife, Leah LANEY
Rape. It might be helpful if we knew who Leah LANEY was or how she fit into
the Laney family, since possibly "Squire" may have been related to her.
Problem on the Laney family genealogy is that Dr. Guy Funderburk (in my
opinion) did not do a good job with his research of that family just as he did
not do a good job with the Funderburk family.
Hi
I found this on my Cook-County List and thought it might be of interest to
the SNODGRASS Researchers.

Jon, in analyzing your theory (e-mail of 8/14/98), I see that, if my dates
are correct, she would have to have been widowed before she was 19, when she
married Peter. It's not impossible, but makes me wonder. Joyce
Just got a note from a cousin of mine. He pointed out a DAR searchable
database that is free for about the next 9-10 days. If you're interested, the
address is:

If that is busy go to www.ancestry.com and it is listed on the home page.

I am so happy to see my close kin cousin, Aileen, back with us. We have
missed her very much. So, Welcome Home cousin! Good to see you back where
you belong.
I have to apologize to the the group for my own recent absence. I would have
been here more often, but about 3 weeks or more ago, I was zapped with a flue
like virus which took every bit of energy and left me lying flat on my back
for over two weeks. Slowly but surely, I feel my strength returning and hope
to be more active with this list in the
I was subscribed before but couldn't get my e-mail to send out mail. Would like to know if I have fixed the problem...Would someone send me a short note?
My relation to this group is through Moses Taylor Rappe. Hope to find more info and contacts.

John,
Is the Squire referred to in this letter Squire Stilwell? If so, please
let me know. I'm current tracking Squires movements.
Thanks,
Rebecca Langsmith
I think this is the last of what was sent in the e-mail list. The list was

In his book entitled FUNDERBURK EXPLORERS, Dr. Guy Funderburk seemed not too
sure about the parentage of Sarah Funderburk, the wife of Peter Rape (son of
Gustavus Rape). After providing the dates of Sarah Ann Funderburk, her
husband Peter Rape and their children, Funderburk wrote the following:
"Sarah Ann was known as 'Sally,' the familiar name given in the early
generations for 'Sarah'. Her seventh child is properly named for her.

Dear Family
We are back from our vacation. Spent 3 cool weeks in the ocean
breezes on the central coast of California--Morro Bay to be exact. We
camped in Morro Bay and also Pismo Beach, and had a wonderful time. We
missed (?) the blistering hot weather here in the desert while we were
gone. It is still quite hot, but will be cool in a few weeks--anyhow it
usually starts to cool off in September-October.
Did I miss anything great while I was gone? I hope somebody will

I sent out an e-mail intended for Deanna since she's been on such a relaxing
and wonderful vacation.
Purely from the fact that it's been a long week, I inadvertently sent it to
the Rootsweb page rather than directly to her.
Please excuse my goof-up and delete the last e-mail. It's just a copy of what
John and others had posted during Deanna's absence.

John, you indicate in the attached e-mail that Israel Rape who settled in

You straightened me out several years ago concerning Israel and Israel

Without a doubt, last Sunday was a red letter day for me. I took my seventy-

near Mineral Springs, NC, to attend church services under the Arbor. That
place is awesome.

Eldin,
Yes I remember you very well. Long ago during the early years of my search of
Rape family genealogy I had made contact with your Mrs., Janice, who was most
helpful to me concerning her line from Israel and Sarah (Laney) Rape. I
remember also that at the time, I was also trying to learn more about some of
my ancestors who had lived in Franklin County, Ark. and I believe Janice told
me that was your home.
The question of Israel Bradox Rape and Israel Rape is still mysterious to me

Hello Everyone! Happy Friday!! :-)
Looking through my e-mails this afternoon, I came across some information
about land sales in Illinois. I found a Gustavas Rape with some Federal Land
Sale information. Also listed were Jacob, Henry and others.
Don't know if it will help anyone or not, but I've listed the address below.
Go to the Illinois Land Sales Page on the internet, and click on the county
codes, and they will give you the county. Then when you search the Land Sales
records, just refer to the
Joyce,
Thanks for responding to my e-mail about Sarah Rape your ancestor. I had not
considered her age and I agree that is young to be a widow. However, you may
be aware of it already, but before Peter Rape married her he had taken out a
license to marry Peggy Pack, who I am almost certain was a sister to Nancy
Pack who was married to Henry Rape. The record does not show the return for
that marriage to Peggy Pack causing John Plath Green to suggest in some of his
writings that possibly Gustavus did not
Hi Nancy, I decided to send this to the group as well, that is if I have not
been kicked off. Hi to all. I hope you will forgive me for being so quiet
for so long.
It has been some time since I was on line with you or the GUS REEB group. It
has not been intentional, I am just so very busy of late. Yes, the wedding
was lovely and we are somewhat back to normal. What ever that is. Since the
wedding on June 28th, I attended a Greer family reunion in Tazewell, TN and
that was great fun. We dedicated two
