1. John V. Reeb [1]
Dear Mr. Rapp and others, I would like to comment on your post of 16th Aug to the Gus Reeb list. There have been many post to the Reeb List in recent months from various people that have not been in a manner of respect to others and directed to our Reeb family genealogy. The Reeb Association appears to be going through some resignations of various board members for one reason or the other. It sounds like to me that all of a sudden John V Reep is no longer important in this family Associa
2. Keskastel [1]
France is divided into Departments just as the United States is divided into states. the village of Keskastel is located in the most western portion of the department of Bas-Rhin which is separated from the rest of Bas-Rhin by the Vosges mountain range. This western part of Bas-Rhin is separated from the department of Moselle by the Sarre River. This region was attached to France on 14 Feb. 1793 and integrated into the department of Bas-Rhin on 23 November 1793. For a long period of history, other than s

I just wanted to remind Aileen because I am sure she knows but actually my great great Grandfather, Archibald Rape, and Aileen's great grandfather, Henry R. Rape were brothers. Their father was John Rape, born in Lancaster County, SC about 1790/1791 was son of Johann Peter Reeb born 1759 in Philadelphia and became known in NC as Peter Rape. John Rape is known in Union County, NC where a bronz plaque shows him as the contractor who bid to construct a wooden arbor 60 by 150 feet for use of the Methodists in t

Teresa, Hello, my name is Harlan M. Zeinstra and I'm a descendent of Johann Michael Reeb. I have taken notice to your posting on the GUS-REEB list and was wondering if you would send to me your lineage from Gustavus Reeb? I believe your line starts out this way: Gustavus Reeb, b. abt. 05/05/1698-99 Johann Peter Reeb, b. 09/06/1724 Elizabeth Rape, b. 1770 Henry Shute, Jr., b. 10/22/1791 Elihu Shute, b. 01/12/1836 Elihugh Sample Sylvester Shute, b. 02/08/1877 ??? 5. Re: Paul Raph [1]
Harlan, It seems that Johann Michael Reeb first settled in the Lehigh Township of Northampton County, PA after arrival in America. Not sure but I suspect that he and possibly also Johann Nicolaus Reeb, his brother, both went directly to where their brother Johann Gustavus lived and probably stayed with him on land which he evidently had lived on and applied for a land warrant which was never surveyed for him probably because he moved to NC where their brother Johann Peter Reeb moved to by 1766. Anyway,
6. Re: Keskastel [1]
No Lana, I am not the jewel. However, you are the jewel who long ago came to my assistance when I asked you to help me. You are the one who obtained the estate settlement for Augustian (Gustavus Reeb) Reap from the State Archives in Ralieigh if I remember correctly. You were the one who first helped me with information on the File descendants of Margaret (Peggy) Reap File. Further, I am going to take advantage of this to explain that one other reason I wanted us to re-open the Gus-Reeb list is so that perha

John: Thank you for such an informative summary. You are a jewel!!! Lana Griffin, descendant of Margaret Reap who was the daughter of Gustavus of Rowan Co., North Carolina
8. Re: DaePowell [1]
On my first 6 attempts to customize the list to propend the subject line with the words GUS-REEB through the utility page my password seemed to be rejected and each time they would send me an e-mail enclosing the password which is the same password I used to to submit my change. Finally I have used the Tool page function and I am still not sure if it is working properly or not. John V Janet Burks wrote: Dae, I too thought this was spam as well. At least we know who you a
9. Re: Keskastel & other Saarwerden Reebs [1]
Hello John and other Cousins, I send you all greetings and wish you all well. I received the email for the Gustavus Reeb list and I'm looking forward to discussing the family tree. I have so much to learn yet ... Business has been, and will be in the near foreseeable future, keeping me busy. I'm always a bit frustrated that my job has to interfere with my genealogy ;-) Just kidding. So, if I don't seem to answer right away or if I don't add anything for some time ... I pray you will forgi

Hello Cousins, Aileen kinda showed me up (wink) in her introduction by actually introducing herself, while I just wrote out my family lineage. So, I'm going to take another crack at the introduction. Hi, my name is Harlan Merle Zeinstra. I'm the first son and second child of five. I am currently living in Lafayette, Colorado, just east of Boulder (10 minutes) and north of Denver (30 minutes). I haven't always lived here but was born and raised in Pipestone, Pipestone County, Minnesota. A
11. RE: [GUS-REEB] Introductions Please (Catherine Rape m. David Funderburk) [1]
I have a very short list, as the only information I have so far, is what I found in Guy B. Funderburk's books. Catherine Rape was my 4g-grandmother, and I have her father as Johan Peter Rape. I am following these discussions with great interest. John, I had also noticed the Hancock name wondering if it could be related to Josiah. It seems too much of a coicidence. I keep saying I'm going to dig into the Hancocks of Lancaster Co and check this out.....(among other diggings). I have so many of the Lancaster/Kershaw Co names intertwined into my Shute family, many of which are also in the Rape family. The more I researched, the same surnames kept coming up. Along with my Shute family, there were Funderburks, Plylers, etc, and other local names

John, I sure will be on the look out now for a Parks - Reeb "Rape" connection in Mecklenburg Co, NC. It may be through the Reeb or Hancock line but it is something for me to remember in any event! I won't forget! Dae, I too thought this was spam as well. At least we know who you are now and are one of us. John, can you place the name [GusReeb] in the subject line so that it always shows up? I noticed the other Reeb list has this. This would keep us from deleting messages! Harlan I would be glad to share this data with you and the rest of our cousins. I will start with Mary Armentha Rape born Aug 10, 1878, died May 29, 1941; she married in 1893, James Irwin Baker born Mar 15, 1872, died Feb 9, 1946. (I was born three days after his funeral.) Aileen, Mind? No way ... I appreciate the information. The family is sure full of twin births ... I suppose it may "scare off" some potential mates ... he, he. A couple of clarification questions, if I may? At the very end of your message you say that Barbara Gale Greer & David Wayne Broughton have two children, however you only told us of Belinda Gale. Who would be the second child? You also write that Carla has a set of twin boys Landon Gabe Collins and Wesron Lee Collins. Did Carla d

Sorry 2nd wife of Peter Rape. His 1st wife was Mary Isabella Bullock and Sarah was his 2nd wife. Sarah is where my great grandmother came from. They are buried in Pleasant Valley Cemetery by Cedar Hill outside of Dallas County. I do have some letters and pictures of the kids from the 1st wife and even the 50th wedding card Callie had written to her husband and them standing on the porch. Sorry, I'll try to explain better next time. Thanks Cheryl

I agree that arrogant and sarcastic posts are not part of any genealogy research, but this advise goes both ways. When someone posts a message that states " This list will administered in a manner where subscribers will be treated with respect and dignity." To me sounds like a sarcastic remark aimed at who knows who or at what site. If the author would be so kind as to clarify his remarks then maybe we can put to rest the questions this remark has raised. Another question raised is the statement "My posts
