I'm happy to supply you with the additional information.
I was born at Ashton Memorial Hospital, Pipestone, Pipestone Co., Minnesota
My elder sister Sheryl was born at the Hospital, Tyler, Minnesota
My two younger sisters, Denise & Kathy were both born at Ashton Memorial Hospital too
My younger brother Larry was born at Pipestone County Medical Center, Pipestone, Minnesota
My mother was born at Holland, Pipestone Co., Minnesota, and she and my father were married at the Presbyterian Church, Holland, Minne
My Great grandmother Anna Karoline Schuldt was born in Germany on 1 October 1881, and her mother was Anna Maria Christina Rosse, born 11 November 1854, Germany. Germany is all I know from death records from the church.
Do any of you know of a web site that might contain birth records from Germany?
Harlan M. Zeinstra
There is the dilemma, all I have is "Germany" and nothing more. I do know that Anna Schuldt emigrated to America on the ship Cimbria, embarked from Hamburg via Havre to New York on 16 November 1881. The source is "Germans to America, 1875-1888.
Anna Maria Christina Rosse (Rose) also emigrated to America, but we do not know when. Her obit and death records just say that she was born in Germany. We do know that she died in Brooke township, Buena Vista Co., Iowa and is buried in the Lutheran cemetery there
Diann, I have a question. I have noticed a few times when you wrote about the Marches. Is this the same family as that of Susan Marsh, the wife of Peter Rapp (changed from Reb/Rape/Reph)? I have also seen the name of Mersch mentioned in records of the Lehigh-Northampton area. I wonder that spelling may have been closer to the original German spelling.
Subject slightly drifting here, but I wish to say I am very impressed with what appears to be a speedy revival of the GUS-REEB and I am pleased that there is
I wish to express myself and I think for the rest of you our sincere appreciation to our French cousin, James Reeb, for the little history and geography lesson in his recent post. Also, I just wanted to mention that I have accepted James offer to assist with some translations of French documents into the English language when possible and recently forwarded the photocopies of the front matter (prefaces etc.) found in the two Church Books which the Protestant Pastor at Keskastel allowed me to hold the week D
Hello to the list,
I think there is a mistake in the name of the ship,
I'm quite sure that it was the "Gascogne" and the
city of departure was "LE HAVRE" (in the north of France).
You can see at http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Gascogne_(paquebot)_1886
some details about this ship (sorry it's in french...).
I guess the man who made the arrival document tried to understand the
french accent and writed as he could... Some reason that some of you
are named RAPE or name who could sound similar as REEB.
I hope

Israel B. and Sarah Laney Rape are buried under, what is now, a big magnolia tree in the Rose Hill Cemetary in Pittsburg, Camp Co, Texas. Their are several of their children and some Laney relatives buried at Ebeneezer Cemetary 5-10 miles East of Pittsburg, where these familys, and their intermarriage families farmed. My wife is a great-great grandaughter of Israel and Sarah Rape through their daughter Mattie Sarah and her union with Jasper Arnold. My wife's mother is Sarah Parker Arnold Neely, and my wi
Nancy,
It is great to hear from you. I hope you can check the book to learn if the wife of David was named. It may not have been, because I do seem to remember there was some that left us with some question about the name. However, I had thought the question was cleared up by the Biographical sketch and the death certificate of Henry H. Raph both naming his mother as Margaret Ruggles.

Hi John!
Sorry to everyone for misusing the email list for a private mail, but
John, I am trying to contact you for a while now. Yet mails with my
normal email address are returned undelivered or simply bounce back.
On mails with my South African address (reeb@rechtsanwalt.co.za) I do
not get answers. So I am just curious whether they get through to you
at all. If not I will have to try another way. Would be glad to hear
from you.

Susanna Marsh died in Carl, South Dakota. I spent some time in Sioux Falls, SD looking through the records and didn't have much luck finding information on Mersch, Marsh, Rapp or Reph names.

Marshall,
I do appreciate that both you and Eldon show interest in your ladies Reeb/Rape ancestry espiecially Israel and Sarah Laney Rape.
During the late 1970s and early 1980s Mrs. Luella Rape Evans of Illinois joined me in a project to obtain as much information from descendants of the various branches of the Rape family in the southern states but also to obtain as much documentation including the original source records in an effort to provide to Mrs. Nell Taylor Norvell along with the genealogy of
This is great news. Thank you so much James. It is exciting to get new European History.
Thank you also, John. Harlan,
The book titled Central Pennsylvania Marriages 1700 - 1896, by Charles A. Fisher, published 1946 by Genealogical Publishing Co. Inc., Selinsgrove, PA gave the marriage record for David REB on 24 August 1828 at Northampton County, PA. I show his wife listed as Margaret Ruggles , however, at this late date I am not sure if I may have failed to note if her name was not given or if it was indeed given.
However, I find in my files a partial page from a publication which is annotated to be page 668
Shelley, Joe is going to be so happy to see you are here. Hope you seen the post Diann sent for Joe. I have told her months ago I lost my copy of the photo of Jackson and Mrs. Rape. Joe keeps saying she will get copies made for you and me, so you know she is thinking of you. Good to see you post again.

For some reason I have the feeling that some of our cousins who used to post on the GUS-REEB List may be still subscribed to the list and reading from the shadows. There are too many to name but the following names come to mind. If you are there please post and let us know if you are with us or not in this endeavor to revise this list which Diann has adopted. I miss hearing from all of you.

your family so would you please post a short excerpt about them. Many on

you post. Looking forward to having you take part in our Family History.

Those of you who are on the REEB-ROOTS list or read the archives of that list may have noticed a post from Barry Chaffin who provided a link to photographs which he had taken of many of the houses in the area east of the Vosges while he was there to visit his ancestral homeland of Alsace. I am not very interested in Zutzendorf but I did hear from Barry after he had returned from his journey so I was curious to see his photos. I was kind of surprized though when I noted at the end of his photo collection t
