Dear Family Members,
The following is the agenda for the organizational meeting to be held on
Tuesday, February 22 at 6 p.m. pacific; 7 p.m. mountain; 8 p.m. central; 9
p.m. eastern and NOON GMT. The meeting will be held in the Reeb Families
Association Web Site. This is a password-protected site if you plan to
intend the meeting and have not notified me, please do so soon so I may send
you your password. I am posting this agenda to the Roots groups so those
attending may have time to consider the topic
Dear subscribers,
I am again requesting that everyone on this list to please subscribe to
REEB-ROOTS list since we are finding it more and more difficult to maintain
both lists. Actually, it is my intention to completely phase this list out
and do all of our posting on the Reeb-Roots list. So I would appreciate it
very much if everyone on this list will unsubscribe and subscribe to the
other list. If anyone has any questions about this please send me an e-mail
to JonReeb@aol.com.
Thank You,
John
The First Organizational Meeting for the formation of the Reeb Families

This meeting is open to any who wish to assist, support or discuss the
Association. This is your family and your insight is always welcome.
The meeting will be held in a private chat area on the Reeb Families

already done so, pleas
In response to posts from Patti Schuknecht and Nancy Reeb, I probably should
explain to the persons who are on the REEB-ROOTS list but not on the GUS-REEB
list that I had posted an e-mail to the Gus-Reeb list asking for some imput
of suggestions for possible future Reeb reunions so that there would be less
confusion and hopefully less disappointment etc.
In Patti's and Nancy's response that it should be held in a place significant
to the history of the family. I can agree with their suggestions but
I have been fielding a few questions on what a family association does:
Here is a little insight from my experience
First an association can do virtually nothing or can be of great value -
that depends on people's commitment.
1. An association is designed to honor, promote and share information
regarding the family. Databases of genealogies are kept and updated to help
members and non members like with on going research and to connect people of
the same ancestor.
2. Members, via newsletters, website, em
Thanks for the support people - it is good to see more interest!
Boy, what an oversight and that is what a person gets for presuming
something - - for this I apologize.
I am a RAPE - as are many others on these lists. The Association is for
everyone Reeb, Rape, other associated names. We have been referring to the
Association as Reeb simply from the lack of an "official" title. That is
something we, as a group, will have to decide on. Neither I or John were
trying to exclude anyone - I apologize if anyone
I believe a Reeb Association might be of value. I belong to two other
surname associations - both have their pros and cons.
both are classified as "non-profit organizations"
the first charges a minimal amount for membership to cover the cost of a
massive website they maintain that contains info on the many different lines
of this family and to field queries. While I have found much information on
this family, there is no real organization and no contacts between the
different families.
The second one has
Who emails more than me?
As if we don't have enough to do - I have discovered that myfamily.com
hasn't sent out part of your passwords - I have left them a message at
technical support in hopes this will be cleared up ASAP. If you still
haven't received you password by tomorrow evening let me know and I will
once again try to resolve this problem. AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

A few days ago, I posted an e-mail about my disappointment that the reunion
might not be held since Mary Lou had not received enough deposits from the
people who had expressed their intention of attending this reunion etc. I
later called Mary Lou and we had a long chat. Although, I don't know all the
details about the arrangements that she had made with Estes Park about using
their resources for assembly site (hall or whatever) and billeting
accomodations for rooms etc. I had noticed the announcement
Hi
If I have a vote I would say Butler County, Pa. Then we could also hang
around a few more days to do research if one chooses too. All the other sites
sound good too.

I am going to help Shannon mail out questionaires etc. about Reeb, Rape,
Reap, Reph, Rapp, Rappe etc. interest in the Reeb Families Associatoin that
we are organizing. I believe it would be helpful if all of you who are
interested in becoming a member of this association send an e-mail addressed
to Shannon and I at the following e-mail addresses and in this e-mail provide
your own postal address and also if you have relatives who are Reeb
descendants etc. who you know would want to be part of this th
Well boys and girls,
I just can't seem to win at times :) Remember last week when we were having
password problems??? Well it happened again this week and now guess what
they did. . . They have reissued some of you different passwords. If you get
another email from myfamily.com, please check this password with your old
one - the original one may not work.
What can I say - - sorry.

Hi John -- First, I should explain that I didn't have a
"Reeb/Reph/Rape/Rapp" reunion in 1973; I had a 'Steele-Dunshee' reunion, but
a sizable portion of the Steele family also is Rapp. I'm the kind of person
who thinks everyone in the world is a relative waiting to be discovered &
that we should all be one big happy family, so I invited everyone who was
interested, which included some Rapps who weren't also Steeles. We ended up
with a good 'Rapp' turn-out.
What I'm actually writing about, though, is
I apologize for leaving recognition off of you, Mary Lou. You were the one
I received my letter from and I apologize. I am forever in a hurry and
failed to proof my e-mail before sending it.
I must leave for night time church now.

-Welcome Susanne to the group - it is always nice to welcome a new face.
You'll find lots of members here with a wealth of information - don't be
afraid to ask questions. Chances are good that someone will have an answer.
I want to thank you and Rosanne for showing an interest in the Roots
Association. With Nancy showing her support earlier today - it makes me feel
like this can be a real happening.
Like I said earlier, I am in the middle of doing the initial leg-work -
which will take a few days - (and I
I will be traveling on Tuesday; however, please keep me on your list.

FIRST: just a quick reminder: If you haven't done so already, please join
the Reeb-Roots-L group and unsubscribe from the Gus-Reeb group. Let's try to
make John's life a little easier by having only one family Roots group.
THE MEETING:
This is for all Reebs, Rapes, Rappes, and other associated names.
I have spent many hours in the past couple weeks researching the formation
of a family association. I have gleaned much useful information, and plan to
share it with you but please don't expect me to have al
Dear cousins,
As you know I have requested that everyone on this list subscribe to the
REEB-ROOTS-L list because we are trying to improve our communications and
eliminate the need for some of us to post the same communications to both
lists.
All I am asking is that for those of you who are on both lists to unsubscribe
from the Gus-Reeb list. And for those of you who are not already on the
REEB-ROOTS list to please subscribe to it.
I did send instructions on how to subscribe and unsubscribe from
I would like to thank all of you who have already responded to the
organizational meeting. I'm hoping to hear from more of you in the very near
future.
I am now in the process of sending you your password to the Reeb Families
(family.com) site. If you haven't received yours yet - you will very soon.
Please take time to visit the site and explore. There isn't much information
there now but that will change in the very near future.
Everyone is being very flexible in their available times - and that is
great
Nancy!
I for one am happy to see your interest in forming an association. I myself
am very enthusiastic. I have began the process of researching the proper
procedures to do this correctly and to make this a real worthwhile and fun
adventure.
However, it does require the help of others. Your offer of assistance is
greatly appreciated. I hope that others will join us in this endeavor. A
little effort on all our parts can make this a reality. The best association
I belong to started several years ago with on
In response to Deanna's concern about the Rape descendants being part of the
association and Shannon't responce to that etc. I thought that just about
everyone on the two Reeb lists knew that Rape has been used by the
descendants of Johann Peter Reeb, who settled in North Carolina after a few
years in Pa. his brother Johann Jacob Reeb, who settled in Preble County,
Ohio after a few years in VA., and Johann Theobald Reeb, who settled in
Butler County, Pa. The descendants of these men did not change t
Just to be sure that everyone knows how to unsubscribe from this list, I am
posting the instructions again:
In the Send to space type: GUS-REEB-L-request@rootsweb.com
In the Subject block type: UNSUBSCRIBE
In the body of the e-mail type: UNSUBSCRIBE
Do not type any other words, it is un-necessary and will only confuse the
system. These unsubscription and subscription e-mails are automated and not
correspondance with a real living person.

Hi Folks -- I guess I owe everyone an apology, also. I'm sorry I don't participate more on the list, but except for visiting with relatives when I travel, I really haven't learned anything new to report for several years. Everyone else who 'talks' on the list sounds so knowledgeable, when I'm at the point I have trouble remembering my own line. As the reference person for Lodi area genealogical inquiries, I've been pulled off on tangents in all directions. I love it, but it leaves me little time to do my
Dear Family
I don't think I thanked Mary Lou for her work in trying to put together the
reunion. I know it must be a pretty hard job to do and I just wanted her to
know I appreciate her willingness to do that. I wouldn't even know where to
start with a project like that! I'm excited about the talk about the
association. If I don't respond to any emails in the next month, though,
don't think it is because I'm not interested! My daughter called yesterday
and said I need to get packed. The C-sectio
