Dear Lonnie and family--
IRAD is Illinois Regional Archives depository, and it has an online
address to see their holdings.
(http://www.sos.state.il.us/depts/archives/serv_loc.html) He also sent
another address to look at, but it wouldn't come up on my server.
(http://www.sos.state.il/us/depts/archives/data_loc.html) A man in
Sangamon wrote to me about it, and sent me the case numbers of several
different family members--I don't know where he got the case numbers from,
I guess he must have an

I am forwarding this message from Patti Schuknecht. I too am very hopeful
that Evangeline Berg will overcome her illness. She is a wonderful person who
has always been very helpful to me in the sharing of her genealogical
successes and supportive of my endeavors. Evangeline is a first cousin to
Nancy Natvig's mother. Being wonderful and he
Deanna,
I feel very sad about this. Just as you said, I lost the largest file I had,
which just happened to be on the descendants of our REEB-RAPES etc. My file
had over 16,000 records in it and every one contained citations for the
sources etc. in a recently completed re-editing to insure that every source
was not only correct but done in as academically correct format etc. as
possible. Initially, I had up to 12,000 records backed up for that file,
however that had been done before I had learned to lin

- Finding Their Own Surnames
Some things you just take for granted, such as having a surname.
It was with some surprise that I read an article from the
International Herald Tribune describing some changes going on in
Mongolia. Writer Thomas Crampton reports, "...After getting by on
a first-name basis for more than 60 years, Mongolians this week
are supposed to start using surnames again. If only they can find
out what they were.

undertaken, al

Dear Family
I think I just lost my entire file in the computer. I remember
John writing and saying that he had done this earlier, well,I'm pretty sure
I've got to start over--. I was helping a friend because she doesn't have
email, and someone sent her a ged-com file, and my family tree maker opened
and it saved the file--I think right on top of my file! Maybe it will be
easier to be adopted by her! I may become an Epps! So much for computers
and genealogy! SOOO SAD!!! (:c) (very sad face).

I'm obviously also interested in any info on her. All I have is
the writeup from the History of Sangamon County, Illinois, pg.671,
which reads:
James [Snodgrass] Jun., born Cocke county, Tennessee, about
1785, married there to Mary Martin. They had two children,
in Tennessee, and moved to Madison county, Illi
Hi Family--
Is anyone here? One of my other lines is going crazy via email,
and this one is usually the most active! Is everybody on vacation? Hope
the heat is staying away from you all. It was 107 here in Lancaster
California yesterday--expect more of the same today.
Sent to IRAD to get information on Samuel D. Snodgrass in Sangamon.
So far the information I received from them has been great. I received a
packet (50 pages for $5.00--and it cost $3.24 for them to mail the package,

Dear Family
Does anyone have any information on Mary Martin who was married to

Hello Family!
I remember people talking about the "lawyer from Texas" awhile back. I found
where I had re-typed the information from the Dallas Quarterly in my family
tree program. I thought that perhaps everyone might like a copy of it. It
might be something you already have. If so, please feel free to delete it.
(I saved it in WordPerfect.)
It seems that there's so much information available, but so much that we still
need to find. It just boggles my mind!
Anyway, hope this might help someone. I
Dear Family
Just got some more information on my Nancy Isabel Rape, d/o Francis
Marion Rape. In Francis Marion's Rape's probate file, which I just
received in the mail, I found his death date as 29 May 1903. He was still
married to Mary Jane (Haden) Rape (2nd wife), and Nancy Isabel is now
listed as Nancy I. Hendrix--so I guess she remarried after the divorce with
Comodore Pettibone. I thought she had died by this time. The papers also
other daughters of Francis Marion as Meredosia Howlett (cou
Dear Family
I'm happier tonight than I thought I would be! I found the file,
when I imported the gedcom file from the email I thought it had overwritten
my tree, but it made a new one on a different drive. When I did a search
of the other drive I found my Staley program--thanks family for the
encouragement. I couldn't believe that that could happen! I didn't even
start up the family tree maker, it just started by itself and put those
files right in! I was really surprised to say the least.
