Hello,
Thanks to John and Aileen for their messages. I am looking forward to
having John talk about Michael, my ancestor, even though he has shared a
lot with me already. I wish I could find other descendants (other than
my immediate family members!) who are online.
John, can you give me the home address of Patti Schuknecht in Lodi,
WI? Also, Verna Heisner? Evangeline Berg is in Florida for the winter
but I hope to visit her when she returns. She told me she wants me to
have copies of everything tha
At this time there are only four of us who have subscribed. We are: Luan,
Aileen, Nancy and John Reeb. So far, Terry and Lonnie have not joined us. I
have not heard from Lonnie Chrisman in a few weeks so I don't know exactly
what is going on with him, but it could be that he is very busy and with
little time at this time.
I am hoping that we can find a few more descendants of the Rape family or the
Reph/Rapp etc. family on line that will join us. If any of you know of anyone
tell them about us etc. I w
Please bear with me, I am going to try to put two subjects into this one E-
mail.
Harold "Bud" Rape:
Today, I received a very interesting letter from Lorraine K. Koscinski. In
her letter Lorraine tells me that Mr. Edwin Rape of Evans City, PA had given
her some Rape family history. In it she found a letter which I had written to
her great-aunt Mrs. Raymond Wible. And there was also a printout that I had
made of her great uncle Harold "Bud" Rape.
To: Lorraine, let me say thank you for writing and inclu

I get an email newsletter from Ancestry and in today's free searchable data

Yes, Nancy there were probably many members of our family who served in
this war. I would also be interested to hear about those who served from
other parts of the country.

After the subject title, note that I have placed a question mark!!! After you
read this I hope that you will understand what I am trying to communicate
because if you do then surely you will agree with me that Family Traditions
may not always have a lot of merit.

It may be that Terry is on the road and has not had a chance to subscribe to
this list. Don't give up on him. I have found him to be a busy man too.
John, you peaked my interest with "Lafayette's Revolutionary War soldier of
the Rape surname." Lafayette visited Camden, SC when the city dedicated a
monument to the Baron Johann deKalb who was mortally wounded in the battle of
Camden. I have ancestors from another line who fought in that battle. Bolin

I for one am thrilled that Luan asked for this subject. My great grandfather
Henry R. Rape (1830 - 1884) served in Co. E, 22nd South Carolina Infantry. He
enlisted at Columbia, SC on January 9, 1862. My source: From the South
Carolina Department of Archives and History, Compiled Service Records, NARS
Microcopy # 267 Roll 329. On some pages he is listed as Henry R. Rape and on
others as H. R. Rape. The last of his wounds is the one listed on the lead
page as: Wounded at The Crator, Richmond, Va., Nov. 5
