1. Re: [GUS-REEB] Administration [1]
Rootsweb helpdesk did provide an answer to my questions as to whether they had somehow allowed a spam or a a nonsubscriber's e-mail to be posted if that was indeed a spam as you say. I suspect that they asked you what had happened and anyway their answer to me was that you said it was a mistake and that you were very embarrassed. I do wish to thank you for your kindness in making it so I can now remove from your list and know that I will no longer be seeing those alerts to spam and non-member posts to
2. Re: [GUS-REEB] Good News and How to share it? [1]
Absolutely, I agree with you, Diann. James probably has contributed more to a better understanding of our Reeb roots than he realizes. Of course the Y DNA study of the male Reebs who were willing to participate not only confirmed the documentation which indicated that our Reeb families ancestors lived in the villages which are in the Sarre-Union area of Bas-Rhin, We were very lucky to have James join us in that study and I think all of us were very happy when we found that our group of American Reebs di
3. [GUS-REEB] time to unsubscribe [1]
Enough is enough. I've been on both lists for too many years not to see a continuous pattern here.? John doesn't enjoy what's taking place with the list, so his postings start to point fingers at those who do not meet his standards. Rich, Harlan and others hit it on the head.? There's so many reasons why people post or "lurk".? Funny? how I used that word some time ago and John V. Reeb was quite offended and upset, but now he seems to use it frequently to either make people feel guilty or push them away.

Yes, I remember that anecdote that you pointed out. I have a very good photo portrait of Peter C. Rape from my grandmother and grandfather Logan Sr. Rappe, who saved it along with his infantrymen's manual from the Civil War. The b & w portrait is in a black oval frame for that period.I also have a brochure/program from his Illinois National Guard Unit Civil War Reunion. I have my grandfather's picture of his high school ROTC Unit from Taylorvillle, IL circa 1907 and his football team picture of the same tim

Hi Lora, I do not know much about your line, but I would like to. My Rape's, Reebs went from PA to CA, some in IL. I would like to know more about your line. If you have time, please send a little about yourself to the list. I know it may be redundant, but it would help me to understand your line better. When I do research I run into a lot of Rapes, Reebs, etc. but I do not know who they belong to. It would help me doing research. Thanks for staying on the list. Diann dicer > From: LoraGrig

John, I hope that the infrequency of my posts to this list does not convey the notion that I am apathetic or lack of interest in this forum. Actually, I wish that I had more time to devote to my genealogy research and to posting interesting tidbits for all to read. I even wish that I had some free time to "lurk" here. I always anticipate that I will organize my thoughts and post something of significance, but good intentions are not helpful here; I'm sorry! I will try to do better. Respectfully, Jim Ra

I appreciate your helpfulness, James. I have not corresponded with Brigitte. Where does she live? I remember kindly your reply to one of my postings. In that posting you gave me the correct spelling of the ship my grandfather came to America in 1903. It follows: Name: Georges Reeb Arrival Date: 22 Jun 1903 Estimated birth year: abt 1885 Gender: Male Port of Departure: Havre (LE HAVRE do be exact ! And it's in Normandy, France) Ethnicity/Nationalit

Harlan, Sorry that you are so upset with this old retired person. I feel kind of foolish to feel that I need to explain this but as you know I am retired and I do hear from a lot of people who somehow have found my address or seen something I have posted or someone who has my ged coms have posted from them. For example, in the last two weeks I heard from a lady who is a descendant of a Mary Rape who married a John Wolf many generations ago in one of the souhern states. Then I heard from a young man wh

Cortez, CO next to Mesa Verde is the center of the U.S. for archaeological research and many landscape artists reside here due to the scenery and brillant sunsets. The desert is beginning to warm up and there is big snow melt-off with the Dolores River up past its banks during the "big melt." I am semi-retired and plan to conduct more research on my family's history this summer and hopeful to learn more about John Reeb and ancestors via the book. Mark Rappi On 5/16/08, Stan & Gail Ferris
17. Re: [GUS-REEB] Jackson Rape [1]
Mark, I have good news about the Jackson Rape photo too. Although my copy seemed to either vanished from the surface of planet Earth I talked to Joe Edleman a great great grandaughter of Jackson Rape yesterday. She told me she is going to get the photo she has prepared to mail to me today. She does understand the connection between Peter C. and Jackson very well and so I do hope you might be able to send me a copy of the photo you have and I will do the same for you when I receive the one of Jackson and wif

You are correct. I checked the archives and seen both messages you mentioned. That is not the full story however. I am not going to say one more word about this subject except to say I think I explained very well what I experienced regarding the three alerts from Rootsweb when someone wanted to post birthday greetings to the list. The first two alerts had been disregarded. Then more recently two other alerts came to my mailbox with a familiar surname as the sender. All, I want personally is to be reli

Victoria, First I will tell you what the tombstone photo for Catherine Rape Funderburk shows in reference to her birth and death years. The years are shown on the stone as 1764 - 1834. I just finally found that Funderburk photo after searching for a few minutes and I do have a few more. The Rape Family Tree was the name of the book that Nell Taylor Norvell gave it after receipt of my compilation, not hers) of the Rape family genealogy which listed all we had found, back to and including the name of the

Rich in the following e-mail I made a typo which incorrectly gave the word "for" but should have been "from." In other words It is not Margaret's children who I seek an answer for but from in case it is not possible for me to contact her. It is about some photos which she provided to me years ago. Hello to all. I just returned from Texas after an extended visit with my cousin. I needed to get away for awhile and my cousin offered me to come and stay with her and to possibly move there. I loved the Ft. Worth area. John V., I even got to see a lot of Oklahoma on the way to Texas. I found it to be a beautiful state as well. On a sad note though, we drove through Picher Ok. on the way home yesterday. Many of you may remember the horrible tornado that happened there last week. It flattened a bi
