I wish to thank Nancy Reeb for the wonderful gift of the book of subject
title above.
I have also received permission from the author Duncan Howlett to quote some
phrases or paragraphs from his work:
"Harry Reeb came of a family no less devout. They were German Lutherans and
were marked by the strong strain of piety that characterized most German
immigrants to America, in particular those who settled in Pennsylvania. Like
Mae's, Harry's ancestors had also settled in northwestern Pennsylvania, but
Hello everyone,
My name is Karen K. Moore and I am a new member to the
list. I just recently started my search into my families'
history with very little information, as my family is
very reluctant to discuss the past. I had a discussion
with my grandmother and asking for any information to
start my search and all she could give me was names. One
of the names she gave me was, Alma Rape, as my
Grandfather's mother. So I started my search with a query
at FamilyHistory.com and within days John answer
-I too am looking forward to the reunion and meeting all of our cousins.
Hopefully, those who haven't turned in their invitation will do so soon. I
know Mary Lou needs to confirm reservations in the near future. I'd sure
hate to have this canceled for lack of response.
Everyone in this group is so nice - I can't wait to put a face with a name!

I was pleased that Cheri provided the Rape marriage from all Illinois County
records and espiecially grateful for those which I had not seen before.
However, like most genealogical finds, these records also provided some new
mysteries that beg for resolvement.
Note that The Rape Family Tree contains the history of Thomas Jefferson Rape,
son of Jacob Rape and Rachel Beam, begins on page 341 and continues on 342.
Under this Thomas J. Rape two sons are listed. One is listed as Edward Ira

The following URL will take you to a gopher menu supplied by the
Illinois Secretary of State and the State Archive to the University of
Illinois at Chicago's University Library and Computer Center.
When you get there, click on "DATABASES" - then click on "State of
Illinois Public Domain Land Sales Archive." If you search by last name,
you will get a list of all land sales in Illinois from the year 1815 to
about 1880, when most public domain lands had been sold. Enjoy!

A few weeks ago, Nancy Reeb sent to this list a long list of Rape marriages
found on a C.D. of records in the FHL. One of these was a marriage record of
a George Rape and Georgiana Mullins in Texas in 1874. Perhaps to most this
record did not mean much but to me it was something to help resolve a mystery
which had haunted me since even before The Rape Family Tree was published
without me
RE: RAPE Illinois Marriage Records - All Counties
I might suppose that everyone on this list already has this information,
but just in case not, I thought I'd share. (NOTE: Info is in columns on
long lines, so if your columns are wrapping to the next line, turn that
feature off in your e-mail program for this message to see them. Soundex
on name is also included.)

It is difficult for me to find the words to express exactly how I feel about
the possible reunion in Estes Park in July 2000. Although, I am only 65
years of age I know that there will not be many more opportunities, if any,
like this for me. I also know that the same might be said for others. For
those of you who have not already decided to attend this reunion, I am hoping
that you will reconsider and decide to attend this reunion. I believe that
you will not regret having done so in the future.
Hi
I am most anxious to go to this reunion and am looking forward to meeting all
of you who have been active in our family research. I have made copies of Mary
Lou's papers and sent them to all of the Reeb cousins that I know. This is a
wonderful opportunity for all of us. Please don't miss it.
Nancy
First, I want to welcome Karen Moore to the list and hope that all of you
will also extend a welcome to her. The Rape Family Tree did contain a lot of
information on the family which Karen relates to but not quite to her
generation. So when one considers the above, one must be grateful that this
young lady is very interested and already on her way to befoming a family
historian. Congratulations Karen and welcome. There are other descendants
of Gustavus Rape on the list and also other descendants o

The list of marriages in Illinois posted by Cheri is going to be very helpful
to me and I appreciate it very much. In this case, I needed the marriages
not only to attach a record to the File family members, but with the
repetition of given names used in the various branches of that family the
marriages will help me to better identify who is who in order to put the
various family units together.
Thanks much.

I am not certain that everyone on this list received it or not, but I
received an e-mail from Eldon Edgin which contains lineage that mentions
Israel Rape. I have sent a separate e-mail to Eldon about this but I want to
make certain that no confusion is caused and that just in case any of you may
hold some old information that was being handed around by Rape researchers
before I began serious research of the Rape family, that you understand why I
say that much of the information was incorrect.

I am writing this e-mail to ask any of you who might have access to any
records of Illinois, Texas or possibly other states where descendants of
Henry Oliver File may have lived, to share this information with me.
To explain: Henry Oliver File was married to Margaret "Peggy" REAP, the
youngest daughter of Gustavus REEB (brother of Johann Peter Reeb) in North
Carolina. Margaret had five children and died in childbirth with the
youngest, Tobias File, in 1810. Henry O. File married second to a widow
I have two question having to do with audio visual equipment etc. Is there
still a projector which can be rented or purchased which can project images
from photos, charts, maps, documents etc. without them first being converted
to slides or transparencies? Years ago, I distinctly remember we used this
type of a projector in the Air Force in meetings and classes. They were
wonderful machines since they would project the image enlarged on a large
screen so that a large or small audience could view th
I know that Rosanne has been a member of this group for awhile, but I am
grateful that she has now introduced herself and given her lineage etc. so I
am now asking all to please welcome her to the group and to the other
descendants of Gustavus Rape, I wanted to let you know that she is here.
Also, I want to ask those of you who believe in sharing of family history
etc. to please do what you can to share with the new comers to this list. I
am getting so many requests for my little book that it is ge
