What is David Funderburk's (husband to Catherine Rape) vital information?
Is he buried in Springhill cemetery too?

Well, one thing I can say, I am impressed but also embarrassed. Although I had admonished my son years ago that he was not to keep secrets from me it seems that I was not completely successful as he kept this surprize "Supplement to Reeb Roots Vol. 5 Issue" secret until today. Our copies did not arrive until todays mail. However, thanks to a couple of you who sent me e-mails, yesterday, mentioning the supplement I did get some hint that something was about to happen. One of the e-mails mentioned that my son

Paul is a son of Jacob Reeb, son of Johann Michael Reeb, brother of our Johann Peter (Reeb) Rape. The majority of Michael's direct line males of the name are now REPH. The exceptions are Paul's descendants who are Raph; Henry Harrisons' descendants (Harlans line), and at least one other group who continued to live in PA .. descendants of a Marvin RAPH. This Marvin Raph, I still have not found proof of whose son he was. Evidently he too was orphaned and adopted by an uncle. We may never learn about his paren
Harlan I did attempt to forward that e-mail but it did not get through but only back to me. It appears that rootsweb would not recognize the version the chart was on. Also, the attachment would exceed the length of e-mail that our list is set up for. I use two different computers for genealogy and for internet as I just can not afford to lose any more genealogy data to cyberspace, so I cannot easily just attach my own files to e-mails.

Hi Virginia,
Do you have Catherine Rape's (wife of David Funderburk) birth and death
information? I've some undocumented dates and NO locations.
Also, I'm missing their wedding date and location.
All help will be SO appreciated.
Tks!
Happy Dae.
While the following is not part of our REEB or RAPE genealogy I think that we can agree that to at least three different branches of the RAPE family of the southern states these Craigs and McKibbens are very important as they are part of their families. I have cut and pasted from an e-mail I have received in the past couple of days from a gentleman whos wife is also a descendant of Alexander Craig. This kind of supplements the information from Aileen.

are their children. From the 1850 Census we have the two additional Rape

Harlan,
There is a very interesting document which is just about as authentic as any one would hope to find on an ancestor. This is the Taufschein for Wilhelm REPH, the son of Peter and Susanna Mersch Reph. For anyone who does not know about Taufscheins these are the very artistic hand written documents made for children who were baptized in the old German churches. The taufschein for Wilhelm Reph represents more than just a interesting and beautiful work of art and record of the baptism of a son of Peter

Virginia, I am puzzled by your question in which you mentioned that you have not seen mention of any siblings of Catharne, Elizabeth & Gustavus Rape. Have you seen or heard about the Last Will & Testament of Peter REAPE...which contains a notation on the reverse side stating it was the will of Peter Rape. This will named Peter's children as: his stepson Jacob Shofner, Peter, Gustavus, and Henry Reape and his two daughters as Catherine and Elizabeth. The old will is torn just after the P in the son Peter's

Question:
if John was born about 1780, how could he have father's Isabella in 1785?
He was only five years old?

Virginia and Dae,
I visited the Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery first in 1985, then again in 1987, both during the weeks of the Reeb-Rape family reunions. I saw tombstones marking the graves of both David Funderburk (1760 - 1824) and Catherine Rape Funderburk (1760 - 1834). Neither showed complete dates. I have photos of both. Also, although I can't locate it right at this moment somewhere I also have a photo of a large monument in the Funderburk area of the cemetery which I believe lists their childr

How exciting! It was Patricia Schuknecht from Lodi, WI that also told me
about this family lore. She gave me her name as Hanna Jane Reph (although her

Harlan, I wish I could answer your letter with even with minimum certainty. However, I am affraid I was never able to find any documentation of Simon's mother. I had hoped to learn more about Elisabeth Rosslen, Philipp Rosslen's daughter who Simon had a child born out of wedlock with. I refer to Anna Maria. She was born out of wedlock and I found no later record of marriage for Jacob to Elisabeth. I had thought that perhaps Jacob had married Elisabeth and then Simon was born to them.

orphaned children in Wisconsin in 1849?
