What a great site: I didn't catch how many of my ancestors were on the
monument until I saw them written down. Learned where my Hosmers are buried
too.
Here I had visited Hartford a few times and never knew about these sites.

Sorry for the cross posting, but it does save me a heap of
time. ;o)
I've recently posted some reference cards on my website that
may be useful to some of you. I print them of 4x6 cards and
keep them right next to my PC. I use them many times daily.

They migrated to NYS and were living in Troy, NY at time of

Hi,
Do you kow what changes they are seeking - ie would they restrict the
records more or would they make it easier instead to use them?
I don't know if you realize that there are no "birth certificates" for
that time period (re 1767). All that you would get for a copy is a copy of
the page where the information is written. A lot of the old books are very
faint and with bad hand writing. They have, however been photocopied by the
LDS and are available at their Family History Centers, you can go the one
nearest you and order the film for viewing. The Connecticut State Library
has the original Barbour Collection of vital records, and the LDS
I am trying to find out if the Amy Averill who married a Julius Caswell
in Litchfield Co. 10-28-1779 is the daughter of Moses Averill and Martha
Cogswell and sister of Currence Averill who married Daniel Johnson.
Also if this Julius Caswell is the same Julius Caswell and wife Amy who
adopted Daniel Julius Caswell in 1795. Parents Daniel Julius Caswell
were Daniel Johnson and Currence Averill.

Hi Gary,
Actually, it's only New Haven that is that way. Most of the small towns
are really great. I have received certificates within a week from places
like Wallingford & Milford. Bridgeport is another pain in the butt. They
will hold your request for 8 or 9 months and then send a form letter "no
record" or a freshly typed "copy" of the record. Most of the information
we would want from a certificate is typed N/A. The last marriage certificate
I received from them contained only the infor
Hello All,
I saw your recent posts on RIGENWEB and CTGENWEB regarding the name
ENOS. My great-grandfather was Joseph Manuel Enos (b. 1873, d. 1941).
His birthplace is alternately listed as San Francisco or Islaw/Isso(?)
Islands. He was actually born on a ship, perhaps on it's way to San
Francisco. He ended up in Providence, Rhode Island where an unnamed
brother was supposedly a barber. Ironically he married Alice Mary
Barber (b. 1871, d. 1953). had seven children.
He was Portuguese although I am told

Dear Listers;
Years of fruitless searching has led me to believe there was, at least
one other Randell/Rendell/Rendall/etc., immigrant ancestor who came,
not from England, but from Scotland to America and has not been
identified and/or researched.
It this hypothesis is correct, it could answer a lot of unanswered
questions and knock down a lot of brick walls.
I am searching for James Randall (1778-1849) who was supposedly born in
Chatham, Connecticut. He is quoted, by several sources, as saying his

Of the first company who came to Arlington, this name being given in honor of
Lord Arlington, these named above appear to have been the only permanent
settlers; others were either discouraged by the prospects of hardships and
privations, or they were speculators who after locating their claims went
elsewhere.
