1. [GenConnecticut-L] Squier/Squire in Woodbury [1]
Dear fellow Nutmeggers, Would you mind checking your databases to see if there are any Squier/Squire/Squires listed who had any tie whatsoever to Roxbury, Southbury, Woodbury, South Britain, and the other nearby towns? These folks seem to have been neglected terribly in Connecticut genealogy books (even Woodbury's!), and I would love to be able to piece together as many as I can. Even if you know absolutely nothing about the Squire listed in your database (married your fifth cousin twice removed in her

6. [GenConnecticut-L] Re: GenConnecticut-D Digest V98 #91 [1]
There was a Cone family from East Haddam, CT, I believe. You may want to look at records from Middlesex County, CT. I am doing this from memory, but I believe when I was looking at records for my line I noticed a large contingency of Cone's in this area-perhaps also Haddam/Colchester, CT. Janice

12. Re: [GenConnecticut-L] Early Catholic Churches? [1]
Hi Cheryl: I suspect that the Catholic connection doesn't have much to do with your not being able to find the birth record you're looking for. Are you looking for the birth of Braddock Kinne or spouse? Braddock was an unusual name for a woman; have only seen it as a man's name, but I'm not a naming specialist, either . Think it has more to do with two things: 1) she was born elsewhere (Quebec?, Ireland?) or 2) the birth wasn't recorded in town VR - even in the early 1800's, lots of births still wer
13. [GenConnecticut-L] EAMES of Norwich/Lisbon, Connecticut [1]
After months of searching, I have finally been able to work my fifth great-grandfather Comfort Eames' ancestry back one more generation to his parents, John & Elizabeth "Betty" (Longbottom) EAMES. I'm now trying to find the ancestry of John Eames. I've looked through the Barbour Collection and through the LDS International Genealogical Index and Ancestry Files with no definitive result. My next step is to post queries, so... Does anyone recognize this EAMES family from the Norwich/Lisbon, New London Cou

In a message dated 98-05-09 05:35:47 EDT, you write: << Is there anyplace where I can find the regiment and company for soldiers from New London who fought in the Civil War? >> If you're near New London, go to the city hall. They have volumes of old registers for Sailors and Soliders. Or try the Genealogy Room at the New London Public library. If you can't get to New London, call the library and (sometimes) they will be kind enough to look up the information for you and then call you back. Good luck,

24. [GenConnecticut-L] Re: TMG [1]
Thanks for your review of TMG on the Connecticut List. I am considering switching to TMG from FTM. I'd written privately to Roland to tell him how disgusted I am with FTM's tech help. I've had FTM since last fall, and after using PAF for years, it seemed such a step up from that klunky program, I was delighted. But no longer. Their tech help is abominable! No, not even abominable- non-existent! I've been trying for months to get what should be a rather simple answer to "How do I change my telephone area co
