Can anyone help me with the name of this cemetery? I have a person in my database who supposedly was buried in the "Old Meriden Cemetery." Greetings to All! I'm new to the list and am seeking your help. My gg-grandfather, Jean Baptiste Besanceney, b. 22 February, 1811, Frahier, France, died in CT sometime after 1852 and before 1855. I found some other Besanceneys in the SSDI for Litchfield area of CT and thought that might be a good place to start. But, I'm not sure where in CT that Jean Baptiste Besanceney did actually die. They have good copying machines, and copies are 25 cents each. Hello, Friends. I have no trouble understanding words like Cavalry, Infantry and Cannoneers, but for heaven's sake, what is an Artificer? The following is about a Connecticut ancestor of mine, buried in Bergen, Genesee, NY. (This ancestor married Susannah Murray of East Guilford on 15 April 1782, and I would love to hear from other descendants of this couple.) I think you will find that he was the fellow that repaired the small arms. Up until I retired from the army they were still around in the with the combined name Armorer/Artificer with a military occupational speciality in the general supply field.
