1. [GM-L] James MILLS born 1768 [1]
I am seeking the family origins of James MILLS b. ca 1768 who married Mindwell SLACK in 1796. Supposedly Mindwell was from the SLACK family of Atteboro, MA. In a later census, their son James Harvey MILLS listed his parents' place of birth as MA. We have quite a few records of James MILLS in Lunenberg, VT and Colebrook, NH but nothing prior to 1796. We believe that his mother was Lydia MILLS and may have been widowed at a young age. We are trying to find leads in MA.
2. [GM-L] Ironsides, 1920 census [1]
Hello everyone, Could SKS with access to the 1920 census for New Bedford and surrounds, Bristol County, please see if they can spot an Ironside family. My Gt. Grandmother, Elizabeth Bradley, who was widowed by the time of the 1910 census, is said to have married a man whose surname was Ironsides. I cannot give the christian name, as he was known as 'Grandpa Ironsides'. I'm hoping that SKS can find Mr. and Mrs., and also some other members of the family who are missing so far in the 1920 census, Hil

10. [GM-L] Heritage Quest [1]
Terri, If I am understanding your email correctly, I am able to contact Heritage Quest and since I have a library card in Florida they will let me access (join) their records free? I have contacted my library and they do not have Ancestry.com, Heritage Quest, or any genealogy programs available at the library or via home link up. I think libraries should be letting their patrons know about Heritage Quest if the information is correct. Thanks, Patti > [Original Message] > From:

The Univ of New Hampshire has really fine historical topographical maps throughout New England, including an 1893 of New Bedford. The url is http://docs.unh.edu/nhtopos/nhtopos.htm. You can also view detailed topographical maps at www.topozone.com. Once you get the hang of it, a really useful site. Wellllll -- there's lots of response on the Heritage Quest/library card thing. I'm in WA state and here's how it works from here. I have a County Library card and a Seattle Public library card. I'm unable to recall which one just now, but one of them subs to Heritage Quest and allows you access with your card #. Like some libraries sub to Ancestry but you have to use the library's computers. The arrangement with Heritage Quest is made so you can use your own computer. Does this help? Terri
