Hi, Erin, thanks for all your work. I was wondering if you could have a few pieces of info on your web site about Irish Hacketts. My line is from Tipperary and then Offaly and is in Burke's LANDED GENTRY OF IRELAND. Others have been researching Protestant lines in quite other parts of Ireland. Still other Hacketts are Roman Catholic. Would others chime in who have this Irish interest? Elizabeth W. Knowlton

Hi, I, too, have Irish Hacketts that were RC. Mine came from Tyrone to Rhode Island in 1860. I have found them on a ship record, the chancellor, from Liverpool to NY. Their names were Joseph Owen Hackett, his wife, Mary Mckenna, and their infant son John. I descend from their other son Thomas, born in 1869, probably Ohio. Lots of mystery to this family. Hello, I'm researching John Hackett and Mary Christopher and believe both were married about 1794 in Irish Town, Clonmel, Tipperary, Ireland. However, I cannot find any information about either of their parents. I think John Hackett was born about 1769 in the same location and Mary Christopher was born about 1773 in the same location. Does anyone have a connection with the above John or Mary that would allow their ancestral line to be linked further back? Warren Hackett >From: HACKETT-D-request@

I have spent a lot of time tracking false leads because of a second John Hackett in Orange County, NY, who inconsiderately named his children with the same names as MY John Hackett. To make matters even worse, the second John lived in Warwick, NY, where my grandfather, yet another John, was born. John # 2 also had a son named John, who was born in the same
