Howard,
Basically, I am looking at all options, perhaps the hacketts domain might
be a suitable location for all of your hacketts resources. The Hacketts
domain would provide an opportunity for all Hacketts to have their own
email address i.e. as in steve@hacketts and page/section on the site, i.e.
www.hacketts.com/steve~ipswichuk etc.
It could be a virtual Hacketts community.
Your thoughts...

To the subscribers of The Hackett Monitor:
I mailed out the latest issue last week and would like to know how long
it's taking for it to go thru the snail mail process. Please let me
know when you receive your issue.
Thanks,

Hello all,
We are still looking for information, children and etc, of Harod Hackett,
b. KY Madison Co. At least in census his dau Zelpha Jane said he was
born KY.
I have seen several messages about Hacketts in KY that don't seem to relate
to the line I was interested in, that is Nelson Hackett of Bath Co., KY.
Howard Johnson has recently filled out the descendants of that line for me,
and maybe one day the ancestry of Nelson Hackett will be revealed.
But for those other Hackett researchers in KY, I would like to make a
suggestion. A few years ago, I searched the LDS computer library for their
microfilm holdings for Hackett and I rented 2 or 3 films that concerned

Hello everyone. Just wanted to let you know I've been up for the past 2
hours (since 12am) updating the homepage. The databases I got up were
for the Kern list (yes, I know it took me forever, and there is very
little info up on the Kern, even now, but better late than never!), but
there is also a new section at the bottom of the main index page for all
of you to read. It is a guideline of how to post messages to the list.
Not only is it for the list, but can be used for queries on message
boards
Hi!
I have a Ziba Hacket/t that came from Hunterdon County, New Jersey and settled
in Bureau County, Illinois. Is there any connection?
My information is from Lori Graff, who has researched the family. I am
connected by a step-daughter of Ziba, Melissa Jane (Miller) Williamson.
I would appreciate any and all genealogical and biographical information on
this family.
TIA
Claire L. Williamson, Jr.
ps: If there is a connection between Ziba and your families, please send a
carbon copy of any response to me to
Hi to all Hacketts out there.
I have owned the hacketts.com and .co.uk domains for the past couple of
years and used it for a commercial enterprise. However, having moved back
into employment, the site is becoming increasingly redundant and I am
trying to think of a way to make positive use of it.
I wonder, if Hacketts around the globe would be interested in a Domain
including Web site and email services specifically for Hacketts
Let me know if you are interested and also suggest any ideas you may have
The mention of Crawford Co, IL makes me think there may be a connection
between the Hacketts we are researching.
Daniel H. Hackett was born in KY on May 5, 1794. I believe he was the son
of Nelson and (Elizabeth Harrah?) Hackett who were early settlers of what
eventually became Bath Co. The area was at various times in Fayette, Clark,
Bourbon, and Montgomery Counties as the boundaries changed. They lived on
Hingston Creek.
Daniel was in the War of 1812 from Bath Co., KY and then married Mary Madlin

Hi,
What is happening with the offer of Hacketts.com? Is the listserv

I am looking for information on NELSON HACKETT who was in Greenbrier Co., VA
(WVA) abt. 1770-80 and then appeared in Clark/Montgomery/Bath Co., Kentucky
thereafter. My HARRAH (O'Hara) ancestors lived alongside him and may hacve
married into his family.

In response to Howard Johnson's Information about Nelson Hackett of KY:
Thanks for the additional information. My ancestor Daniel O'Hara (Harrah,
Harrow) had a will in Clark Co., KY probated Jan. 26, 1795.
He names his living children, James, Charles, William, Daniel Jr. [my line],
John, and Sarah. He also has L 5. bequests to all of his grandchildern
named Daniel. There is also a bequest to Daniel, the son of Nelson and
Elizabeth Hackett.
I know from records that Nelson Hackett was a neighbor of the
The only children of James Hackett that I know of are:
Jesse born about 1800
Nancy born about 1800, married Thomas Bonannon 1821 in Shelby
Elizabeth, born about 1809, married Thomas Neal 1824 in Shelby
I suppose it's possible your John could be a son of Jesse, if I discover any
new information, I'll let you know.

Thanks for this valuable information. Before I respond with some additional
information, I would appreciate knowing your source for Nelson Hackett's 1st
marriage to Harrow and 2nd marriage to Yardley.
That has been my assumption too, but I would like to know how you came to
information.
Thanks,

I have been looking for information on a John N. Hackett who was born 20 Jun
1822 in Ky. By 1850 he was in Crawford Co., Ill., where he died and is
buried. He had a brother Newt.
John N. married first Harriet Jane and had children Isabel, John T., Rose
Ann, Caroline, Charles and Newton. He married second an Eliza A. and had
child Jane.
The Rose Ann was the first wife of my wife's grandfather and is not her
direct line.
I can send further details if you're interested.
Anyone else researching this family?
Gary & the original poster of this data:
I am unable to tie the descendants of Howard Sayer Hackett to the Jacob
Hackett family of Hackettsville, NJ.
This doesn't necessarily mean it isn't so, but I can find no proof of
any connection.

Thanks to all for your responses.
For those who may be interested:
The 1820 Illinois census index shows a Martha Hackett in Crawford Co.
The 1830 Illinois census index shows a John Hacket and a Mary Magdalene
Hacket in Crawford Co.
That John could not be the John N. (b. 1822) I'm looking for.
Perhaps that Mary Magdalene was the widow of Daniel (Mary Madlin Hicks)?
Here are some Crawford Co., IL, marriages that may be of use to someone:
Noah Hyer m. Caroline Hackett, 6 Jan. 1867.
