Hello, fellow listers,
I was wondering if anyone out there might have some history on the
famous Anne Oakley? I'm trying to track down a story my father told me
several times to see if it is true or not about his grandmother and Anne
Oakley. My father had claimed that his grandmother was a better shot
with the gun than Anne Oakley. If it is true then I am a proud owner of
a gun that should have gone to Anne Oakley but was beaten by my
grandmother.
Any help or suggestions on where to look?

HI,
My great grandfather is John S. Hackett. But my John was not born until
1845. His father was William. Maybe this could possibly be my John's
grandfather. Do you have any more information? My John was born in OH. His
father William was born in N.J. I Do not know Williams parents names.
Sincerely,
Madolin Hackett-Sparks

I am also searching for my Hackett line. My great grandfather, John Hackett
had a brother Thomas. From a 1860 census of Warren County, Indiana - I
figure Thomas was born about 1854 in Ohio. But as I have found so often,
you can never be certain because of mistakes. Thomas had a middle initial
