One more thing! There is a 15th century castle in Ireland built by SIR WILLIAM HACKETT, a descendant of the Anglo-Norman settlers of Kildare and Kilkenny. It's castle Ballytarsna in Cashel, County Tipperary.
Here's the site: http://www.tipp.ie/ballytarsna.htm

Kathy, I am searching for a Richard (Dickie) Hackett myself. However, your Richard Hackett is a little younger than mine. I am wondering if he's the son or grandchild of another Richard Hackett. My Richard Hackett. Long shot, but worth asking about.
My Great Grandfather was Harry Leonard Hacket

Hello John! I visited a website (don't remember which) that listed what castles and stately homes were connected genealogically to surnames and the Hackett name belongs to Shelton Abbey in Wicklow, Ireland. It is currently a prison.
Here is a link to it: http://www.iri
Can someone post this for Sandy and get her to join the list so
we don't have to go on line to communicate with her?
Sandy,
Is this your family on the 1891 English census? free at

I looked at all Hacketts in Leicestershire (10). This is the only child
Harry.
If so, his brother Dickie was a Wain, really his nephew, unless brother in
law
is really stepson, in which case, Richard and Harry are half brothers.
But, I am suggesting Dickie is not a Hackett.

Hi all. Just wanted to let you know of a new feature for the website. I am
starting to write articles to help you in your research. Please take a look.
I have 2 articles up right now. The first article is on counting cousins and
the second article is on census tips and tricks. Both articles also have links
to pages that will go into more details (and they were also my sources for the
most part....as well as plain old knowledge and experience). Please also feel
free to submit articles to me to include
Thank you for including me in the loop!
