Hi,
My maiden name was Hackett. I was born in California and have absolutely
no idea who my father's side of the family was. My father's name was Frank
Thornton Hackett and all I know is his dad was also a Frank. I believe his
mother was Lillian Fisher, but not sure. Dad didn't have any brother's,
but he did have sister's, 3 I think, but I don't know any names. I'm sure
I have cousin's some where and would love to find them! Can you help? I

My George Ernest Hackett family were early in Ontario County NY,prior

Oliver Hackett.I am just beginning to trace back the line in Mass.
I have some dates of death for a couple of the children (George's)
buried in Ont. Co. NO obituaries. I would be most grateful if you
would share with me anything you have

Probably GenTips-L would be the most appropriate place to place something like
that.
It's not that I don't know how to get films of the records, it's just that if
someone else has already transcribed some of these, they would be very useful
to me.
You should be getting your copy of the Hackett Newsletter soon.

Erin YOU ARE SO RIGHT. I am an archivist and librarian and can attest
to hearing the same from many many people. All the info in these books is
readily available at LDS history centers, in regular libraries, on cds you
can purchase [more for less], and on the net.

I was going over some of the older Hackett queries and was wondering if you
have had any luck with this one.
I have found a George Hackett & Mercy Hall of New York, but they don't have a
daughter by the name of Persis Jane listed. They have 5 children listed, born
1818 - 1832.
Maybe you would want to contact the person who listed this info:

"The Hackett Monitor" is published 3 times a year for a subscription fee of
$20.00. Past issues have been very informative, and well worth the cost.

I have a lot of Frank Hacketts in my database.
Can you give me some idea of when he was born and where?
Have you checked for his certificate of death? Quite often that will list the
deceased person's date and place of birth and often his parent's names.

Hello everyone. Normally I do not like advertising about scams and hoaxes
on the list (such as those about viruses) since most are actually not true.
This however, I know personally to be true and this company tends to get a
lot of newbies in the genealogy world to buy their books at high prices with
the buyer expecting a heck of a lot more than they get. The company is
called Halbert's and operates out of Bath, OH. They advertise their books
by sending you an announcement personally through regular mail

Ireland?? What year was Herod Jr. born? Did you check him on more recent
censuses [1920 back] to see what he said each time about his parents?
