Hi, I saw your posting, I have a Elizabeth Hackett in my line but much later than yours, and in Tioga Cty, PA a long way from NC. I will watch though and if I run across anything I will let you know. Do you have any names? Darlene

In my researches of Hacketts in Manchester and Liverpool England I have come across, in the same area:
Cornelius Hackett Married Elizabeth Pilkington on 22/Aug/1774 at Saint Mary, Bury, Lancashire.
Cornelius Hackett (his son) a Broker married Ann Riley on 15/JAN/1804
Cornelius (Grandson) a Mechanic Married Ellen May 19
Do any of you have a family of Hacketts who were in New Jersey in 1802? My William H. Hackett was supposedly born in 1802 in New Jersey according to two censuses, then he went to New York, was there in 1825, married Abigail Baker Drake maybe 1825 and had a son John D. Hackett born in 1825 in New York, He maybe was in Canada a short while then came back to Pennsylvania and married a lady named Mary Magdalena _____ maybe Freete and had several children born in Williamsport, Lycoming, Pennsylvania. He was in
My Hacketts moved from Manchester, England to Liverpool, England between
1861 and 1881 via Leeds, England. (one of heir children was born in Leeds).
The earliest I have traced was probably born in Manchester 1768. All of my
direct line since that time were barbers or hairdressers.
There may well be siblings of the line who emigrated to the USA and I would
be particularly interested to hear of any from Manchester.
Thank you
Rob
Interesting, My Hackett's were in NW New Jersey in 1803. Jacob Hackett married Elizabeth Moore near Hackettstown in December of 1803. Family Folklore places them in the North-Western tip of New Jersey, possibly until 1812, then Jacob and Elizabeth supposedly moved, with their four children to Canada, near Chingoucousy and resided there until mid-1800's when much of the family removed to Northern Wisconsin. These folks left few tracks and no records in New Jersey that I can find.

I am not, to my knowledge, related to a Capt. James K. Hackett. My
Hackett line came to the United States and down the Ohio River back
around or, possibly, prior to 1820. The families of Hacketts, Wrights
and Bostocks, all from Breedon-on-the-Hill, near Derby in
Leicestershire, settled at Wrightsville and Cincinnati, Ohio; and, over
some time, Louisville and Paducah, Kentucky; Metropolis, Illinois; and
Ripley, Tennessee, where my father was born in 1889. Best of luck with
your search. --Bill Hack
No connection that I know of.

I ran across your Hacketts in my search, but no William was listed with them. It sure looked like the right time period and place but have found no real connections.
Thanks for responding. I do know my William had gone to Canada sometime before 1830 for awhile before coming back to Pennsylvania. This is according to a woman who sent in DAR records listing my William. She lists John Hackett and Betsy McFarland as parents of William, but they were not in New Jersey to my knowledge. Was Jacob foreign bo
According to some entries on World Connect on Rootsweb.com Jacob Hackett b. 1772 in New Jersey married Elizabeth Moore 21 Dec 1803 in Hackettsville, New Jersey. They had a number of childrenborn from 1805 to 1827. My William Hackett was born in 1802 which would have been before they were married.
I also found a Zephaniah Hackett who married an Abigail Mason and had Sophia Hackett in 1808. Does anyone know about any other children for Zephaniah?
