This week's phrase is "migration pattern" :) What this means is in your
line, usually, you will notice a migration pattern of your family
(unless they are like my Bradford's and stayed in the same place for
many years) such as VA>>KY>IL (my Hackett line) or maybe it was just
Mecklenburg Co.>Cabarrus Co., NC. Take a few minutes and post it to the
list.

Hi,
Received an e-mail regarding how to do this so guess I am on the Hacket
mailing list. I am searching for a John Hackett who at least 2 daughters,
they both married in 1833 in Giles Co., Va. The marriage record lists John
Hackett of Botetourt as father.
Was wondering if there are others beside Erin and I searching for
Hacket/Hackett's in this area?

Hello everyone! I got an idea last night about a new program, similar
to word of the week, that I am calling "Story Time"! First off, this is
not gonna be weekly right now, more like a monthly thing. What this is,
is I will pick a topic and you respond to the list. This is not a
sharing of regular genealogy info like "Word of the week" is, however.
This month, the "Story Time" topic is "How I got started in genealogy."
So what I would like is for people to post how they got interested:). I

New Zealand man claims world record for bungee jump
Associated Press, 10/05/98
AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) - Using only a rubber bungee cord and two
steel guide cables, a New Zealand entrepreneur dived off Auckland's
highest building today, plunging 591 feet and claiming to set a world
record.
Traffic halted in the central city as crowds gathered to watch A.J.
Hackett's 8-second jump from the Sky Tower casino. The bungee cord
ended his plunge just above the shouting and whistling spectators.

After great frustration trying to find any ancestors of my my
Grandfather Raymond E. Hackett, I discovered the following in the census
microfilm at the National Archives in East Point, Georgia in June of
this year:
My Great Grandfather and family:
Ohio 1900 census, Darke County, Greenville Township, Enum. Dist. 3,
Super. Dist. 57, Sheet 19
Vincent Hackett - Head of Household, born July 1858 in New York,
occupation lumber buyer, parents born in Ireland
Ellen - wife of 15 years, born December 1857 in Ohio,
Erin I agree that is a great idea to put all 1850 census Hacketts on the
web. But, PLEASE, nobody retype it. If Trish has it only on paper,
someone at her end or yours can scan it onto a disk. Ask around at
genealogical societies, workplaces, schools, etc. Someone will have a
scanner you can use for this project.
Also, if Trish's email address still will not work, I have seen her
listed under Hackett on Rootsweb.

This week's phrase is "census information" :) What I mean by this is if
you have any info at all on your line pertaining to the list that you
found from either the census itself or from an index, send it to the
list. Please include as much as possible, especailly Names, County and
State and (Township if given), Date, Page number (if you have that
down), and then the census info itself (If you are giving info from an

Earlier today I posted this message but failed to say Pueblo County,
Colorado: Does the name WILLIAM HAXCKETT who would have been in Pueblo
County, Colorado in 1873 mean anything to anyone out there? Please
e-mail me if it does.

Yes, this is definitely Hackett behavior, especially Hacketts from Ireland.
I speak as a descendant.
Hello list. If you have (or think you have) any Hackett's in the 1800s
in KY or Coles Co. or Douglass Co., IL, I have just updated the Hackett
census info that I found earlier this week that I mentioned. I have
partial info of all Hackett's in KY up and then for those who i didn't
have time to find the info, I have an index of names, townships if
listed, counties, and pages where you can find the others. 1810-1850 in
KY. I was planning to do IL when I was at the archives earlier this
week, but ran out o

do. I have no idea where he was from.

William Winter earlier this week was looking for William Hackett in
Colorado in 1873.
Our line has a William Hackett born 1809 in Washington Co. PA, moved to
Richland Co. Ohio with the family in 1816. He married an Eliza ? He
seems to be in Richland Co in 1850 census, but then disappears. Maybe
he headed West. Since William Winter didn't post any ages, it is a
possibility. Would love to know where he ended up.

There are about 165 people on the just the Bradford list and close to
500 on all the other lists as of right now, give or take a few, (I have
to count them all by hand and math is my worst subject;) hehe) As far
as the donating for my birthday (Oct. 18th), that was a joke!:) but if

I got started researching about 15 or so years ago when I decided to find my
real father. He had given me up for adoption to my step father when I was
3 and found out by mistake since my original birth cert was covered over by
my new one. My mother would not speak of my father but I did have one Aunt
who sent me a letter with my fathers name in it along with a town in Nevada
where my mother and father went to school.
I tried the historical society and things like that but no one could help so

Mark,
Your Darke Co. Ohio info caught my eye. Here is a great website that
has extensive indexes for several counties in the Miami River area.
Just pop in the surname and it gives you the locations of info for
marriages, cemeteries, census, etc. Found a long lost relative there
this spring...just cause I punched in that name you can never seem to
find. I checked a few minutes ago and Vincent Hackett is listed with
lots of others!

Happy hunting!
