My family of Hacketts were from England and there is a Thomas Hackett in my family tree that lived in England. If you have any additional information I can check to see if there are any similarities. Look forward to hearing from you.

You might try going to the courthouse where he was adopted from if you know the location.
I have some luck looking for my grandfather who was sent to an orphanage around the age of 7-10. Loysville. He was there for about 10 years and then his mother came and got him.

My extensive Hackett family starts with William Hackett who came to the US
from England in the late 1840's or about 1850. I periodically look for help
with two things.
First, I would like to learn more about William who was born in 1815 in
Burbage, Leicestershire, Central England, England. I very much want to find some
record of his immigration, even if just he specific year and port of entry.
Second, I would like to learn more about Williams connection to his wife

Hi
I'd be very interested to hear what you have.
The details of my Hackett's are as follows.
Thomas Hackett (Cabman) still alive in 1874.
His son, Henry Hackett born c1843 in Islington, London(although we can find
no birth certificate).
The mother of Henry and wife of Thomas are still unknown.
Since we can't find Henry's birth certificate we are having problems
searching further back.
I would appreciate hearing anything about your Thomas.
Regards
Susan

Ok, this was sent to me through one of my lists for archivists. NARA has some
really great microfilm that you can purchase and rent from them. Below 2
changes than NARA has made to their policies (1 for the better! other is a
price increase for purchases). Then there are some links from me, I had kind
of a hard time finding where to order their films and stuff, so at the bottom
will be some links so you don't have to fish around the site :). Good luck all
with your research! This should be the last of
I am related to the Hackett's in Knox County, IN. I am looking for someone
else who is researching this group, to compare notes. John Hackett married
Lucinda Layer in Vigo County, IN. I also have them in census records in
Knox and Vigo Counties. John is my great grandfather. His father and
mother were William and Ann. I have information on them also. If you or
anyone is researching this family, who came to In. from Ohio, please contact
me.

Hi all. I know that this particular topic may not interest most of you, but
because it's about NC, I wanted to let everyone know.
In addition to the talk I'm giving about apprenticeship records in NC on
Monday, I will also be giving a talk the following week (October 17th) about
free African Americans in NC before the Civil War. I think that on one level
this is relevant to the Wilder's because I'll be talking about how these free
African Americans fit into the larger scope of society.
