Haven't posted this in a while, and am hoping that someone new to the
list will recognize some of this:

Wish I could help you, but nothing you mentioned connects with anything
I have. I have very little on my Sarah; what I have on her brother,
Daniel, is even less. And the whole crowd vanishes from
LCT(apparently)without a trace. Wish I could be of more help.
Hello Garth,
How's Fonthill? I grew up on Grand Island - just above the Falls. Used to
go to Fonthill for fruits and veggies with my great Auntie. Anyway, the
genealogy stuff - have you tried going to the Canadian Genweb and put
postings in the various provinces that apply?

There was a woman named Linda Harper that was looking for Hamilton's that
started out in Quebec (mid to late 1800's). Some of them ended up in the
Emo, Ontario area (Rainy River District).
I'm still seeking information on a John Hamilton in my family's line.
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 1, 1839, moved to IL in early
childhood, and married Mary A. Otke there (Aviston, IL). They had their
children in Aviston and later moved to MO.
I'm seeking information on his parents. Supposedly his father died in PA
when he was a toddler (around 18 months of age) and his mother rode with
John on horseback to IL. His mother supposedly died when John was around
age 5. We have no information about J
Hello, I also have a John F. HAMILTON b. 14 Oct. 1814 VA---I do not know my
John's parents or siblings either. John married Laura Taylor PAINE 1838 Vigo
Co. IN, children: Francis Marion, Alva Charles, William Marvin, George Edgar,
John, Ebenezer Winchester, Mary Ann, Martha Jane.
Dear list,
I thought this topic should be brought to the attention of anyone interested in genealogy and local history. Weathering and vandalism are serious problems in our cemeteries, and now we have this to worry about. We need to speak out against this desecration!

Do you have birthdates on these Hamiltons?
Are any of them brothers?

Ok, I am jumping in also. As a child I listened to my grandmother tell me
the same stories. My Hamilton's were related to Mary Queen of Scots. Also
an ancestor was an ambassador or Viceroy in India. The Mary Queen of Scots
story was the one I heard the most. So are we all related???

Betty,
I am desparately trying to find a Hamilton ancestor who was married in AR
and would be about the age of your Hamiltons. Problem is census data in TX
says only AR, no county, and his name is unique and possibly a middle name.
The name is DAhl (or Dol) Hamilton who moved in late 1800s to TX. What
county in AR were your Hamiltons in at the time?
Thanks,
Hurston Anderson

Hi,
I recently sent out a post looking for Mr. King and Miss Hamilton, parents of
Almyrta King.
I have learned Almyrta Kings parents were John King and Margaret Hamilton.
Sorry no dates yet, but Almyrta was born 1897 in Lewis County, KY.
I have yet to learn Margaret Hamiltons parents, but her husband John King's
parents were James King and Jane Anderson.
Does this help anyone?

Concerning the Hamilton tangle:
There was a period when the Earl of Arran (later known as the Duke of
Hamilton) was the heir apparent to the throne, while Mary Queen of Scots was
a young girl.
My g-g-g-grandmother, "Lady Jane Hamilton," was the 'natural' daughter of the
5th Duke of Hamilton/Brandon in Scotland. Her mother was Lady JMulia
Skipton, with whom the Duke had an affair in Ireland between his first and
second marriages.
Bob Parrott, Knoxville.
Sandy Corkern posted a querry in March about a family of HAMILTONs who
lived in Buckingham Co., Virginia. My ancestor, Albert HAMILTON was born in
Buckingham County in 1813 and moved on to KY and MO. If you're still there,
Sandy, will you please check to see if you have Albert in any of your
records? Does anyone else on the list know of an Albert HAMILTON from the
Buckingham County area?
He married first, Sarah WILLIS and then, Martha Susan GRAVES. Thanks so
much for checking.

Sorry! No, that James HAMILTON is not ours. Our James Alexander

have been born in AR from 1833 to 1859, so I guess the one you mentioned

Dear Jessica,
My Hamiltons came to Laclede County which is in south-central Missouri
about 150 miles southwest of St. Louis.

others) at http://home.att.net/~tlhamilt/ . Alexander HAMILTON is the

We know nothing yet about Jessie Hamilton only that he was
married to Ruby Leda Parker and had 2 daughters Joyce and
Edith and three sons Billy, Jimmy and Woody. We have sent
information to the two living brothers asking for additional
information, I will post it as it is received.
