Will the TRUE g-father of the Hamrick clan please rise......? Since I've been involved in this, I have gone 'round an' 'round about the great controversy over exactly who is the real one who started all this. I'm starting to wonder if maybe it wasn't just one of those immaculate conception things. :-) I've heard both sides of the arguement, and have personally taken neither. Unfortunately, I have not found anyone on either side that has anything more than heresay to back up the claim. (Obviously I don't

Thanks Harvey! This list has been too quiet, how about some action!! I would love to know the answer to this question too, from what I have seen the census records are used by many, I have some, but I am stymied with my line, and just keep adding whatever I can find to my Hamrick file!!! There is a gal who is really up on Hamrick's who has helped me somewhat and is willing to help most, if you want her address let me know? Aloha, Jill ALL comments here are welcome! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
12. Re: Obituary for my Elizabeth [1]
Some of the story of Elizabeth is on my Hamrick website (url's below) the rest is in my forthcoming book, she was a "good woman" the obit said!!! I have a drawerful of obits, they give so much info on the life and times of our ancestors, I wouldn't be happy without checking every newspaper in an area where an ancestor lived/died. Briefly what I know is they left Missouri in 1850 and came to Amador CA in the fall, when she gave birth right away to her daughter Cosumnes California Hamrick. Next sh

Oh you guys, I am so happy! I got an obituary for my Elizabeth Wisdom Rhodes Hamrick today in the mail ! And her probate records, and 2 other Hamrick obituaries. I feel like I hit the lotto, well not really. But its great. Hers was on the front page of the Calveras Prospect a CA newspaper in 1903, and said she was " highly esteemed by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance". It gives her overland journey story and even says where my gggrandmother Sarah Hamrick Martin was living in 1903 and also g

Wow! I did it! It took me a day and a half (takes most people an hour) but I got all of my current FTM files onto the web on a database, I used ged2www, which converted my gedcom to html and then got a free site on the www at geocities.com (you just look for a vacancy-I found mine in Heartland/Hills, but hurry cause most sites are full) From there I uploaded my gedcom using the conversion system built by Les Howard (his email address on my database homepage). I started with a small group, only 357 in
