Good afternoon to all
I had a reply to my query of yesterday re John Hanks Jr. and Charity that I
thought was Charity Gatlin. I have received a very nice message confirming
my theory. Now, since that one worked so well, perhaps someone can help me
with this one - also theory.
At the 1820 census for Hopkins Co. Ky, John Hanks Jr. had the following
people living in his household:
1 male to 10 yrs 1 female to 10 yrs
1 males 10-16 1 female 10-16 yrs
4 females 16-26
1 male 45+

Does anyone have any information on this Hanks line? According to an LDS
search, Warren Hanks was born Oct. 22, 1806 in Vermont to Levi and Chloe
Squires Hanks. I have a picture of a man in a Civil War Union Uniform. My
grandfather had told me that it was my great great great grandfather, Warren.
Grandpa didn't say what Warren's last name was. However, when I sent for
information to Andersonville Prison Camp where he was reported to have died,
they sent me back a photocopy of that same picture
Does anyone else have an Antha Hanks in their line from Vermont? She was
born in 7-2-1849 in Vermont, and according to the 1900 census records from
Glendive, MT, both of her parents were born in Vermont. Her mother's name
(according to Antha's death certificate) was Lydia, I can't read the last
name, but it may be Jaimer, Taimer or Farmer. Her father's name was either
Warren or Seymour. I tend to believe it was Warren as I have a picture of
him, and my grandfather told me that was my great great g
I need help! I am beginning to think that my ancestors just magically
appeared on this earth in the 1800's and had no ancestors of their own! LOL
I will share what information I have, and what I have done, and hopefully
someone can give me some pointers on where to go next. I have done an LDS
search, and the only name I can find is Warren Hanks, who was born in either
MA or VT, but would be too old to be the possible Warren Hanks that I am
looking for.

I'm afraid that I still see no documentation that supports this Nancy Hanks
versus any other claim. It is remarkable to me that there are so many
undocumented claims out there about this woman. I have been involved in
many other families' genealogies over the years and in all other cases
people have not made claims they could not support with real documentation.
No one should make this claim without a good source.

John Hanks b. ca 1760, son of John Hanks and Mary Dawson. Married to
Charity. Can any of the good Hanks researchers out there tell me what
Charity's maiden name was???
This is what I think - but I have absolutely no proof. My idea is that
Charity was Charity, the daughter of Lazarus Gatlin. My Charity Hanks was 84
years old at the 1850 Jackson Co. IL census, making her birthyear 1766.
Charity Gatlin's birthyear was 1767. Charity Gatlin's neice Mary was married
to John Hanks' brother Joshua
