Hardy interests My HARDY is Ann HARDY, born Shipley, Derbys (according to 1881 and 1901 census'), born in 1838 +/- She married James NEEDHAM on June 12, 1849 in Nottingham St. John. Her father was William HARDY (coal miner). Ann was 21 at the time of marriage and listed her residence as Barker Gate, Nottingham. 4. [HARDY-UK] My interest, John HARDY 1815-1872 [1]
Hi Listers, My John Hardy was a convict who was tried at Cambridge, and I can only assume was born nearby, but no record of a John Hardy has been found in Cambridgeshire in the period about 1815. His parents are thus still not known to me. He listed his trades as farm servant and shepherd. He was convicted of house breaking at Cambridge Goal Delivery on the 27th February 1836 and given 14 years. This long sentence was probably because he was he had a previous sentence of 3 weeks. He was sent to the Colonie

My HARDIE ancestors are from Scotland. My Great-Great Grandmother was Jane HARDIE who married Robert BATHGATE in Edinburgh in 1840. Her father was John HARDIE who was a blacksmith and I believe her mother was Helen LOVE. Jane was born in North Leith, East Lothian in 1817. My interest in the name is at present very limited. All I have is that one of my wife's ancestors, John COTTERILL, married Mary HARDY at St. Peter's Cathedral, Sheffield on 22nd August 1803. Anyone know any more about either of them?
