1. RE: WILLIAM-WILLIAM-ELIJAH [1]
Mary, in "A Somerset Sampler" Elijah is ALSO listed as the first son, b. ca. 1710. I don't know whether this was merely "borrowed" from WTH, or is the result of independent research. (Just thought you'd like to know that another source listed him the same way.) 4. Re; another 2 cents worth on Wm. H. Hearn [1]
In response to Dr. Bowers message of 3/2/00, I can't add anything, I have a question concerning Gen.Henry Light Horse Lee. He is the grandfather of my great, great, great grandmother, Hanna J. Lee Daughtry. I have empty spaces that I wonder if anyone can fill while we have this name before us.(Btw,William H. Hearn b>1791, is my great, great grandfather) This is what I have: Hanna J. Correction: The dau of Frances McLendon apparently is listed in Jasper Co., GA bible records as Frances Mariah McClendon not Mary Frances. Therefore: Frances Mariah McLendon m (1) Lot HEARN, (2) John Swanson.
6. another two cents' worth on William Hearn Family [1]
William Hearn Jr. (b. 1784 d 1841 LA) was the son of William Hearn Sr. RS. William Jr. m. Nancy Miles in 1813 in Jasper Co, GA. Several sources, including WTH's book) state that she was a niece of Gen. Lighthorse Harry Lee. This is not correct. Nancy Miles, b. ? was the dtr. of William Miles. Her mother was Rhoda LEA. I have not identified this William Miles. (There are about as many Miles with the same first name as there are Hearns, and I descend from both families). This William Miles is i

8. Hearn docs/Bible records [1]
Well maybe Bible records are great finds, but one can't just go by them alone. One has to question when the records were written. I have several Bible records that are full of errors because they recorded information about ancestors years after they were dead and include data about siblings that have incorrect birth dates and places. My best story is from my sister, who has my mother's Bible. My Mom filled out the family history part when she was quite old and had, already had, had several strokes. My sis

13. Montgomery Co. records [1]
I have not had the opportunity to do any research in Montgomery Co. myself so let me say right away that this is second-hand, but having said that, my grandmother found valuable records in Montgomery Co. about 1960 in a library. Sorry, I don't know which one. It seems that all of the records were not in the court house when it burned, and thus some were saved. We proved a missing generation by finding the legal papers from grandchildren who proved themselves heirs for a will of about 1803. So, don't

16. John HEARN of Montgomery County and Wythe County, Virginia [1]
Different Montgomery County.... I believe the John HEARN referenced below is possibly the John HEARN referenced in the WTH book (1907 or 1912 editions, not the 1895 edition) as being a son of Thomas Jr. and Nancy WILSON. I have no proof he is. But believe we're talking about the same John HEARN. Actually, I'm beginning to strongly suspect he's from a different HEARN/HERRIN family. Found the following on the Library of Virginia's Land Grants index... Grants Book 3 (26 Jun 1786) page 29/30 "In considerat

18. Re: Joshua HEARN, Montgomery Co NC [1]
Imogene, So, now, we have three Joshuas ? 1. The Joshua of the 1774 Anson Co. Road Order, 1790 Montgomery Co. census, and 1782 tax list. 2. Joshua, s/o Stephen of Montgomery Co. 3. Joshua of Lincoln co. Questions: 1. What happened to Joshua no. 1 ? 2. Tell us why Joshua no. 2 is not the same as Joshua no. 3 of Lincoln Co.? Why is Joshua s/o Stephen not the Joshua of Lincoln Co.? Mike.
19. WILLIAM-WILLIAM-ELIJAH [1]
(1)William Hearn, immigrant 1680s (2)William Hearn, son (3) Elijah Hearn, grandson Does proof exist of birth date and death date for (3) Elijah HEARN ? WTH considered this Elijah HEARN the eldest son of #2 William and gave his approximate birth date of 1710. However, in the will of #2William HEARN, where all the children are listed, Elijah is not listed first. Any answer?
20. James HERRIN of Wythe County (1790s) [1]
Anyone know who this James HERRIN is? I know about a John HERRIN/HEARN in Wythe County at that time, but not of an adult James HERRIN. This is taken from the online Patents and Grants at the Library of Virginia's web site. Grants #34 pages 664-5 (Library of Virginia) dated 30 Sep 1796 Land Office Treasury Warrant #411 issued 21 Jan 1793 to James Herrin, land described as follows... "A certain tract or parcel of land containing 50 acres by survey bearing date 28 Jan 1792 and being in the County of Wythe

22. RE: John HEARN of Montgomery County and Wythe County, Virginia [1]
I certainly don't know who the players are either. Interesting, though, that there does seem to be a thread to all the records you cite (i.e., all to/from the same man), and the name is variously spelled "Herrin," "Heron," and "Hearn." Which confirms the spelling variations that so many people on the list have theorized. I'm no expert at these Montgomery Co. Hearnes. Maybe someone on the list has data to prove this marriage. Thats all I was looking for -- folks that have conclusive proof of things related to these Montgomery Co. Hearnes and who their children were and where they went. We know that the Maryland Hearnes eventually did a generational migration to many points in the deep south and also Ohio-Indiana. If we can get list members who have this information to step forward and post it maybe we can tie up some of t
