Thelma, The first available census records for Hawaii are for 1900, so since James Sr. died in 1885, I don't have any way of finding him. I tried to find his wife and son in the 1900 index but got no results for the KIUPE surname at all. Here's what I found for the son in 1910, but the mother's name isn't showing up in the index. Thelma, I magnified the census image and took a closer look at James's occupation. It says Laborer - Docks.
