Fellow listers -- this is an oops! type of post. That is, I want to
correct a couple of errors I've made in the two previous posts on the
Threadneedle tismoignages today and yesterday (28 & 29 Jan).
First, in my earlier post today, I mentioned Lausanne and then put the
country abbreviation CHI, which is, of course, for the Channel Islands. I
should have typed CH which is Switzerland.
Second, in my post yesterday, I stated that Switzerland had the
greatest number of refugees arriving at Thr

Hello, listers --
For some time now, I haven't posted any further installments of the
surnames I extracted from the Threadneedle St. Church tismoignages. In fact,
my last post in this series was on 9 Dec with surnames E-FL. If you missed
those earlier posts or if you are not familiar with the tismoignages, please
access this information in our list archives which you can get to via our
website at http://www.island.net/~andreav/index.html. (Look in the section
headed The Basics.)

Hello, listers -- I am forwarding the following message on behalf of
Peter who is one of our subscribers. For some reason, he has been unable to
send messages to the list lately, although he has tried repeatedly. I thank
him for his contribution and his persistence in trying to get his message
through.
The topic of the Mount Nod Burial Ground has been mentioned before (see
list archives, using keyword Nod) but not in as much detail as Peter has
provided. Andrea

Hello Leila and listers,
I checked up BLANC in Lee and found LE BLANC in Portarlington abt 1699. There were two families, one of "Le noble homme Louys LE BLANC, Sieur de Perce, Capitaine pensionne", the other Claud LE BLANC, boucher. The latter family existed later under the name of BLONG, and a Peter BLANG in 1756 placed a tombstone for his
family. In addition an Andrew and a Mark LE BLANC from Ales, received their naturalisation in Dublin in 1704. The name is apparently still extant in Portarlington.

Hi.
I've run in to a brick wall on two of the names I'm researching, namely
GURR and BLOWN. I'm posting here in the hope that someone has come
across these names (or some variation of them) in Huguenot sources, as
they are both conceivably of French or German origin.
The last details I have are:
Henry BLOWN
born c. 1778
died 1839 (buried in Walmer, KEN, ENG)
Thomas GURR
born c. 1715
Offsprings' baptisms in PRs at Chatham, KEN, ENG

Thanks very much for your further message. It is a great help to have your
suggested address to write to for any records in Lille. I had thought of
the same reason for the mistake of the "D" in front of the name myself as
you have suggested and think it is very likely to be true.
I know the song "Mademoiselle from Armentieres" well but still have to
locate the place on a map. I suppose you can't tell me the address of a
good web-site for maps of France if you write to me again?

My Huguenot links mostly hail from Beuzeville and its surroundings. The

The surname PALLETT appears in the list of Huguenot surnames given by Reaney. I have found French persons with this surname among the list of Aliens made Denizens,(London) but they were resident in England long before the Edict of Nantes.
My mother Amy Pallett always insisted on French ancestry, though some surname texts have it as an English surname,so it's confusing.
I have Francois Pallett and his son also Francois Pallett, and there's nothing more French than Francois! (sorry about the cedilla).

Hello to all --
Just wanted everyone to know that, because I consider it such an
important topic, I have included LeRoy Eastes' message regarding
genealogical research standards on our website. It's in the Beyond the

This information was originally posted on the list a couple of days ago
under subject line: Verifying Accuracy of Research.

Having looked further I find that a Fellow of the Huguenot Society is

Fellow listers --
As a follow-up to my post yesterday (10 Jan) re: Walloon churches in
Zuid Holland, here is further info about other Walloon churches in the
Netherlands. It was obtained from LDS fiche # 6000055 -- Walloon or French

Church Records of the Netherlands (Waalse of Frans Hervormde), a microfiche
copy of a brochure published by LDS in 1973.
The info in this source (eg. film numbers) should still be valid but

These have been on the list website for some weeks now but perhaps you
haven't had a look at them. They are basically the same guidelines we've
always had but I've changed them a bit, added some, deleted others, also
clarified them (hopefully!) by adding reasons why each guideline

As Judi mentioned in her post, the IGI gives a clue as to possible
Huguenot connections. That is, it lists this surname as occuring in the
records of two French churches in London -- the Threadneedle St. Church and
the Church of the Artillery. These entries would be the extracts from the
