When we visited my Janos' relatives in the village of Tamasda (about 30km south of Salonta, Jud. Bihor, Romania) this Summer, I dutifully photographed the individual pages from the Szilagyi family Bible that an elderly cousin had in his home. I thought it would be nice to have in case someone became interested in the Szilagyi family history some day. It's also interesting from a cultural standpoint, in that the handwriting of the original book's owner shows extraordinary education for a small Transylvania

This may help you. I noticed that the LDS library had sereral refferences about Germans who moved to Hungary. Perhaps if you consulted there Library Catalog you may find a film that will assist you. Does anyone remember the Hungarian revolt? Was it 1956? I was very young, but I clearly remember the refugees my grandparents took into their home. I've often wondered what happened to those people. Is there an organization that kept track of them? Just wondering..... Kathy

I have just recieved two 2 hour video tapes taken in Visk. The first all i]in Hungarian was shot in 1992 The second was shot in 1993 and is in English. One interesting item in the tapes is the Reformed (Calvinist) Church in Visk was the largest in former Hungary. Its services which have resumed in 1990 for the first time in 40 years have in attendence 1000 to 1500 folks attending. Taking into account the town is 8000 people.
